i HIGHLY recommend that you purchase an HP at [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or

Some observations on computer deals: 1. The best deals are on "old" technology and refurbished machines (do get one with at least a year warranty, and use a credit card if possible to add a year - after two years, you can just about replace anything on it for a few bucks, due to obsolesence). You say she doesn't want a celeron...ok, not sure why, but that's fine. How "old and slow" can she live with? The best deal on computers is to only buy what you need, not be sucked into buying "the latest and greatest" whizbang system (which is where PC sellers make their money on). 2. Prices on flat screens are coming WAY down. Can she wait? Does she really need a 19"? I say this because 19" non-thin are only $150, whereas the thin ones are closer to $1000 (which buys a 30 " non-thin monitor!). Even the 15" thin are becoming a lot more reasonable ($250 or so, maybe less with deals/rebates). Anyway, just some thoughts on how to get the most for your money...depending on your needs. |

oh, i almost forgot. pertaining to monitors, i suggest you look at getting a 17" monitor and wait for some "mail-in rebate" offer. staples had one a week ago. after all the instant savings and mail-in rebates were applied AND an online coupon was used, the final price was UNDER $100. the brand was NEC, too, a very reputable company. |

You might try they have some really great deals on computers and carry lots of brands, Amd is a really great way to go they actually process faster than pentium chips. You can also earn rebates from ebates by going through their site first if you decided to order. Also they have a 17" flat panel monitor for 499.99 which is basically the same viewable area as a 19" regular monitor. ![]() They are actually true to size unlike traditional monitors so you can step down a size and get the same viewable area.
