If you are looking for unlimited hours, the cheapest one I know of is NetZero Platinum. It's $9.95 a month. They still offer free internet access, but it's limited to 10 hours a month and you will have to deal with banner ads.

The best/cheapest WAS AT&T's $4.95/month for 150 hrs. HOWEVER, since they have d/c'd that plan(& tripled their comparable rates), I will be changing to Juno. I haven't yet b/c I have already been billed for Dec/Jan @ the $4.95 rate. I will be changing to Juno next month tho. (Unless someone comes up with some better suggestions before then! Hint, Hint!!!) Good luck hunting! q

I use Prodigy. It is not the cheapest around, but it is very dependable. We are thinking of switching to AOL next August when our contract with Prodigy expires. My friend's parents use a combination of free ISPs. They use NetZero and Juno. Have you considered that?

Thanks for all these leads! I didnt post this question, but I am sure glad to have read your answers. I need a new ISP, Earthlink goes up to $21.95 next month. They are OUTAHERE! I'll check into the one in Ohio, didnt know about them, big thanks! And AT&T offers unlimited for the same price $16.95 I think, if you are a customer fo AT&T. The card is in front of me so I can type the phone and web address for any to check into. 1-888-446-8967 [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] I think you have to be a cardholder or a phone user of their long distance. Not sure which, or if both, since I am both. EDIT- I just clicked on the link and here is the fine print. The good news, you get a month free... the bad news, the price I quoted is limited hours. See for yourselves... it's your CHOICE Sign up for AT&T WorldNet® Service before 2/28/02, and you'll automatically get one month FREE*!! I was considering trying out Verison. From what I hear they are comparable to AT&T. I had no ideo AT&T charged so much for service like that. I never even thought about looking at what verison charged for phone calls. I think I will if I choose to switch. I use Earthlink and I'm about fed up them too. They went up right after AOL did. I wouldn't go with AOL at all. I've heard too many horrible things from techies about them. I've heard a lot of complaints here and there about things like connection speed. One guy I know who had AOL, frequently couldn't get past 26,00bps on his 56k modem. They're are popular, but I think it's because of advertising not the quality of the company.

I use AOL and I love it. I've pretty much tried every other ISP(MSN, Earthlink, AT&T, etc.) but I always come back to AOL. There are so many features on AOL that are not available with other ISP's.

| Why not go Cable??
I pay $40/mo for high speed always on cable. That includes a cable modem rental. If you figure it out, it's just ~slightly~ more. MONTHLY CHARGES: Dial Up ISP $21 Extra phone line $15 Total $36 And with the d/l's I do including MP3's and gaming etc it is WELL worth the extra $4/mo WARNING: Once you get used to high speed internet you will never want to go back to slow dial-up. AND....if you are in a Comcast area, they have an excellent offer right now in where your 1st month is free and THEY are paying $100 to ppl who sign up. You'll have to Call 1.888.793.9800 for specifics in your area. Good Luck! |
