| Re: Who knows more shop now - pay later sites? There is also a GREAT place to get FREE stuff that you may need. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] I have been a member of this free group for almost 2 yrs. and have gotten SOOOO much! What you do is go to the site, find your state and then county I believe and then find the most local freecycle group in your area. Once you join, you can offer things that you no longer have use for in your home and request things that you may need! Here is a just a short list of the things that I have received from other freecycle members:
And the list goes on...all for FREE! I've also given away 2 cribs, weight watchers book/calculator etc., sconces, baby clothes, computer monitor, dvd tower, hutch, etc. Someone gave away a black 1998 Blazer the other day (which is rare but does happen...of course everyone requested it and she ended up giving it to the person who needed it most). You should probably not just ask for a bunch of stuff as this will get annoying to other members...so try to offer things as well. I always offer something before I ask for something. For instance, today I am going to offer another crib that my daughter has outgrown and ask for shrubs to hide my trash cans (someone may be getting rid of their shrubs and redoing their landscape). Good luck! And when it comes to baby stuff...there is SOOO much of it on freecycle...people are always having babies and have things that their child no longer needs or extra things that they never used that they may have gotten at a baby shower etc.

| Re: Who knows more shop now - pay later sites? Oh boy. Someone else who LOVES shopping w/ the convienience of paying later..... [Only registered and activated users can see links. LOL...However if you buy from one of these you will eventually get catalogs for all the others. Most all stores have store only credit cards too--jcpenney, old navy, kohls, etc. (I like them for school clothes for my son w/o having to come up with $300+ dollars all at once...and their finance charges on them are reasonable... HOWEVER, I learned the hard way that having a store credit card for all the stores I like drops your credit score!!! We want to refi in January and the bank said to pay off JC Penney and Old Navy and cancel them. Apparently it's better to have one LARGE $2000+ credit card to do all spontaneous shopping then it is to have several store credit cards with lower balances on them. That made me want to cry....ha ha, but I did it! Anyway, I guess if you don't get too carried away and you aren't planning to buy anything or refi then go for it. Hee hee. Hope this info has been helpful, amanda |
