Barbie anything.

Craft items or kits (the Klutz books are nice and can be purchased at 40% off at Michaels with their weekly newspaper coupon. They have instructions and whatever is needed.ie.clay or pipe cleaners or beads...)

I have the same problem...my niece will be 6 in January.

But, last year, I got her a wal-mart gift card (she just loves shopping there because they have those little shopping carts, lol) and she LOVED it!!! She kept running around to everyone saying she got her very own credit card...disgusting isn't it?

Anyway, I think, because she loved it SOOOOO much, I am going to do it again.

Then, too, they can pick out just what THEY want.

Good luck, hahahaha

I agree with the Barbie anything! I just picked up the Barbie McDonalds playset and McDonalds Barbie for our 5-1/2 year old neice....what little kid doesn't like McDonalds and for a little girl you add Barbie into that equation and you can't go wrong!

Hi,

I was at our local toy store today, & was told the "hot" christmas toy for girls this year is Groovey Girls. I think they are really cool.

Oh, if anyone wants to know the "hot" boys gift is Bionicle by Lego.

Another idea is gel pens and dark paper. Also, anything like glitter gel or lip gloss stuff. My daughter is 8 and we can't keep this stuff around. She and her friends use them up like crazy.

You can find the glitter stuff and lip stuff at dollar stores and gel pens are cheapest at Walmart. Good luck!!

I agree with the above. You could also try Hearthsong.com for all sorts of fun artsy craftsy stuff - - paper kits, make-your-own lip gloss, bead kits, etc. My six-year-old girl loves to be creative!

Big grin

Straight from my six year old daughter's Christmas list:

Shrinky Dink Maker (looks like her EZ Bake) and she REALLY REALLY wants this

Silly 6 Pins Game

Barbie In the Nutcracker Sugarplum Princess

Hungry hungry Hippos game

Barbie Shop with Me Cash Register

Barbie Make It Shake It Nails Kit

Barbie Studio Lip Gloss Maker

Hoberman Spheres (These are cool expandable pieces, looks like fun)

Assorted craft and/or paint sets----she loves drawing, art..

Simon 2 game

Hello Kitty lamp

Shrek, Scooby Doo and Cyberchase, and Cats and Dogs videos

Bratz and Whats Her Face Dolls?????!!!LOL

One of the best presents she has from last year is her camera. She has so much fun taking pictures

I GAVE HER THE TOYS R US CATALOG AND LET HER PUT STICKERS ON WHAT SHE WANTED, KNOWING IT WAS ONLY A WISH LIST. LOL

BTW, SHE JUST GOT THE JAMNGLAM CHRISTY OR THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE LIST. SHE ALSO JUST GOT HER DIVA STARZ DOLL AND LOVES IT

GIFT CARDS ARE OKAY, BUT WITH SADIE SHE JUST LOOKS AT THE CARD AND DOESN'T REALLY GET THAT EXCITED UNTIL WE GO TO THE STORE AND THEN I AM NOT SURE SHE REALIZES THE GIFT ISN'T FROM ME EVEN THO I TELL HER WHO IT IS FROM.

6 year olds LOVE...

You've probably already left for shopping but...
every 6 year old that I know that has used this has loved it!
It's polymer clay. Our all time favorite is called SCULPEY. What's so great about Sculpey??? Well for one, it NEVER dries out unless you bake it on a low heated oven! It comes in every imaginable color. It can be made into so many types of things including ornaments, picture frames, figurines and whatever the sculptee can possibly come up with. (The first time I ever saw it was at a holiday bazaar where some gal and her kids had made all sorts of neato ornaments and figurines to sell.)
It keeps its nice bright colors forever.
Even better, Sculpey now has a type of polymer clay that stays flexible after baking!!! Kind of like the old Gumby figures. It's totally cool stuff! They have books of tips and ideas and you can get lots of neat little tools to help that creative spark take off. Of course, any kind of tool one wants to press into sculpey service is fine too.
We LOVE this stuff!
Gifts that help kids create and use their minds and hands are always good gifts.

just another suggestion (from working in the disney store over 4 years - so far...... ):
literally every girl about that age heads straight for the *princess nightgowns*. they can use them for *dress up*, & parents like that they're *useful*. (my niece, who stated "NO toys - all i want is a sleeping beauty nightgown", said she loves to "sleep like a princess". fyi, they're currently on sale for $20 - and no, we don't work on commission ).

also, craft kits (sand or bead kits - make sure are age appropriate tho) are always a big hit, stickers & sticker books, GC's for book stores, items tied into popular kids' movies (especially *plush*), a pretty LOCKABLE diary..............

i used to make up baskets filled with light colored nail polish, nail decals, emery boards, polish remover pads, scented hand moisturizer & cleanser, lip gloss, etc - add a few hershey kisses, some cellophane & a bow - it was ALWAYS a big hit.

hope that helped a bit,
laurie s
