Unhappy

I just received an email from Call Wave (internet answering machine) that they are going to start charging $3.95 a month for their service, or $2.95 if you pay a year in advance, in addition to the $2.00 a month the phone company charges. The amount of calls I've gotten while online don't justify paying for this service, but I do hate to give it up. Anyone know of a FREE internet answering machine that they could recommend? Thanks.

I got the same message. There is an option listed letting you apply for continued free service under certain conditions, being a senior citizen, using the internet less than 10 hours per month (right!) and the 3rd option was receiving offers from Callwave in exchange for free service. I checked that box and applied. I believe it said they would review the request and let you know in 30-60 days but in the meantime you can continue to have free service.

Thanks Juliet! I didn't see that option at first, but just went back and clicked on it. I guess we'll wait and see that they offer.

I got the same email from callwave. I didn't like any of the other options available on the internet, plus I'm not willing to pay a monthly fee. I decided to go with a NetcallerID. The best price I found was $29.99 w/ free shipping at [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]
You have to have caller ID and call waiting from your phone company in order for it to work.

I rec'd an email from Callwave last week saying they had approved my application for the continued free service. I had applied for the option where I would receive emails in exchange for the free service. The funny thing is the last time I checked the website it seemed as though service is still free anyway unless you choose the enhanced service.

Unhappy

I finally got the email telling me about my 2 "options"-- $2.95/mo for "plain" CallWave or $9.95/mo for "CallWave Pro". (Yeah, right... )

Have there been any new developments in this area lately???

I have caller ID w/ "Complete Choice" thru my phone company, but I didn't plan to keep it. I THINK I could add VM to that for no increase in the price, but I'm not sure.

I'm not sure how long I have to decide........

Thanks in advance for your help!
