Lowes has a small white digital controled microwave for around $30. Which I thought was a very good deal. Hubby got one for his work last weekend. Just the right size for reheating and popcorn!!

I agree with Rhea- also, be sure to check the classifieds in your local paper. People sell microwaves really cheaply sometimes- if she doesn't mind getting a used one, you can get a really good deal! Good luck!

A word of advice given by a new college freshman -- make sure her dorm (if she's living in one) will allow for a microwave. I know a lot of the ones at Radford Univ. in VA will not.

I wouldn't recommend getting a used one. They can have small cracks in the door's rubber lining and can leak radiation -- which causes such things as... brain damage... I'm not trying to get you scared or anything, it's just a word of caution, because it does happen.

I agree madClikr I am the queen of yard sales and thift shops but i would never ever buy a microwave from one. This is dangerous at least. And in our local trading post used microwaves range for $30 to 50 thats no deal to me The microwave we bought at lowes was 28 something and with tax around $30 thats the best deal I have seen been looking for about a year.

Smile TRY Costco!!!

IF you belong to Costco and you can wait until August 13th, you can get a Panasonic 1.0 cu ft. 1000 watt microwave for $59. This is after you get $10 off at the register and there is a $10 rebate. Costco mails out coupon books to all their patrons about this time every year. This is in the coupon book. I have this microwave and it is a REALLY good one. You might want to give your daughter your old one and keep this one for yourself!!!!

AND MadClikr is right..MAKE SURE MICROWAVES ARE PERMITTED before doing anything!!!
