Where can I go to find out if an online company is legit?

I am wanting to purchase something online from a company I have never heard of. They offer mastercard, visa and paypal as well as payments by check. Just want to make sure they are for real first. Thank you.

Well,

Hopefully they are listed in Bizrate or Gomez.com, if the company is not all small, they should have a listing and a review.

Also, they might be listed under the BB Bureau, they many not, but a lot are.

If I think of more sites, I'll be sure to post'em.
