I have read many posts about switching for certificates and other incentives. My question is--does it cost anything to switch?

My local phone company (QWest) charges $5 per line to switch your long distance. Some long distance companies will send you a check for $5 to cover that charge.

If you are looking for cheap long distance, a good company to go with is Militel. It was first established for military personnel for when they are abroad and need to call home at a discount rate. They have extended their offer to really anyone who wants to sign up. I pay 9.9 cents a minute for US to US 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The only difference is that 1. You dial a toll free number everytime you make a call and 2. They bill you via credit card, or can withdrawl from your bank account.

I REALLY recommend them. There are no sign-up bonus, or gift certificate, etc...

Their toll-free number is 1-877-MILITEL

I suggest you check out Qwest's website and take a look at their 10 for 10 deal. I just signed up for it....you pay $10/month for 10 hours of long distance (1.7 cents a min from like 7pm to 7am and ALL weekend long)Anything beyond those 10 hours, or before 7pm, is 7 cents/min. AND if you do online billing, you save $2/month. So, basically, you're paying $8 for 10 hours of long distance, and what I do is before 7pm, I use 10-10-811 which is a minimum of .50 and .05/min. Of course this works REALLY well for me because all of my family and friends are out of state, so I use more than 10 hours a month.....but anyway, now I'm just rambling....sorry
