there is a hp 2200se that has individual ink cartridges, but the price is around the 499.00 range. I use the hp970cse and they have recently dropped in price from 399.00 to 299.00.....but only after I bought mine of course. I love the results on photos and in the best quality mode its even better, I have been extremely happy with it. I do think that the hp has a better print quality. Mine just has the black and color cartridges. my first hp was all colors in one cartridge so it had to mix black...very slow... anyway I think the main difference in the hp printers is when you get up to the 895 models they all have about the same quality just the print speed...My husband has the 930 which is comparable to the 932 and they run 199.00 and it has great results too. the only difference on my 970 is the speed and it does automatic 2 sided printing. there is a model 1000 that has a photo memory card adapter that is the same price as the 970 also. I hope this is not too terribly confusing.. I have a way of doing that! Basically in my opinion You cant go wrong with a hp

WOW, ILUV2SHOP, you have been a GREAT help!! Nope, not too confusing. I guess we speak the same confusionese, I understood you completely! Even the first time i read it! LOL It's just what I was looking for......someone who had actually used the printer, and had some experience with a couple different ones. I'd really love to go for the more expensive one. I had a printer that used an all-in-one color cartridge, and it took mucho dinero to replace the cartridge all the time. Seemed like I ran out of the yellow before anything else. Now that I have some model numbers, I can look online where I can get the best deal with coupons, rebates, free shipping, etc......... Maybe AT&T or Sprint will come up with a $150 Amazon coupon for incentive?????? (Ha Ha, that was a joke - if they've read this board and have seen all the MCI stuff, they won't EVEN go there.........) |

I just bought a Xerox WorkCentre 480cx at Staples last night for $119 before tax. It's a printer, scanner, fax and copier. It's regularly $199, there was an instant $50 savings and I used the $30 off $100 purchase coupon to bring it down to $119. You can check out the ratings, latest prices, etc. at [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or

| HP 2200se
I'm really interested in the 2200se, but it says it's a parallel connection (ECP Parallel - IEEE 1284 - whatever that means - can I use it with my Gateway Profile 3???). That would be okay I guess, since my current printer uses parallel connection, though I'd prefer USB. It seems at $35 each for color cartridges, this printer might end up paying for itself eventually, by having the individual tanks. Plus this has extra-large ink tanks, so they would last even longer. It might be the better deal, I'm not sure. I'm still checking it out. Thanks again for your help! |

Boy do I Know what you mean....gives you a headache trying to figure out all the in the long run amounts and stuff, I think this is a fairly new HP Printer, I wanted one with the individual tanks, but they didnt have it at the time and I wanted HP. It probably will average out on the price just guessing, let me know what you figure out on too! ![]() ANOTHER THING>>>>>>>>> I am SO GLAD at least YOU understand my CONFUSIONESE, I like that word!!!!! ![]() My husband probably thought Only I spoke that language....LOL!!! anyway, seriously, I have read so many ratings and reviews on other printers, EPSON and CANON as far as the photo quality goes, they say the quality is good on them also but on the displays at the stores they only have books that you can look at, you cannot actually test a page on them, so far I just never have seen any I like better than hp, I keep looking too!!!! I LOVE PRINTING PHOTOS!!!! and I finally got a digital camera so I have been working my hp970 OVERTIME since SEPTEMBER!!! and it is still going strong. You might check out best buy sometimes if nothing else they have some great financing sometimes 1 year, 18months and 2 years so that gives you time to pay for it in smaller amounts over an extended time with no interest and another thing I really like is their extended warrantys, they are great, they cover lightning or surge damage basically anything and are usually very reasonably priced that way, just in case you wont have to spend that much again for sure within 3 years and they clean your printer too if you take it in for free with their warranties if I remember right. Most of the hp's are paralell and USB so you might check into it ![]() Another thing.....the best paper I have found for photos to print on is the HP premium plus photo paper, the weight of it is pretty true to a photo....I like the matte finish I think the best, paper quality does play a great role in the printout results also. NOW I WILL HUSH!!! ![]() [Edited by ILUV2SHOP on 01-07-2001 at 07:59 PM]
