I'm looking for a deal on the Fuji Finepix 1400 digital camera for my parents for Christmas. I know there's a $50 rebate on it right now, so I'm hoping to combine it with a coupon somewhere. I'm looking to pay $180-$190 after the rebate, so $230-$240 before the rebate, including shipping. Anyone have any ideas?

I just got my fuji 1400 through mercata when they were honoring the MSN passport 20% discount ($153 shipped after rebate). One option I almost used was price matching at staples. They'll match prices of other online dealers as long as it's in stock. I read about someone else doing this. Staples usually has a $40 coupon off of $200. Feel free to email me for more info. I searched a long time before I bought it! Richie [Only registered and activated users can see links. FYI! Amazon has it for 299.00 with the 50.00 coupon it would be 249.00. They also have free shipping for a few more days. There may be better deals out there somewhere, but this one is pretty good.

It's out of stock at Amazon.com (and I've had some problems with them lately, so I'm trying to avoid shopping there). Mercata does have it on a powerbuy at $248 right now so I went for it there. Even without the 20 percent passport discount, it's still an okay deal. A little more than I had hoped to pay, but maybe the price will go lower before it closes. Thanks for your help.

Here's a link for the rebate form. It's down to $247 at mercata (not much, I know) but there is free second day UPS shipping. Good luck. http://www.photoalley.com/pa/rebateFiles/0004A907-D0CA-19D4-A7AC80B41135FD3E.gif |

I talked to Fuji yesterday, and they said that the rebate has been cancelled. How can they do that? The forms say it ends in January. They said it was because of a $90 price drop. Mercata told me that Fuji was obligated to honor the rebate. We'll see. I got mine on a powerbuy for $203. So I'm happy even if I don't get it. But I'm going to try! I would still give Staples a call about price matching and using one of they're coupons. I've seen it for around $239 at some of the smaller online stores. Use Cnet to find the best price! Good Luck to you all . It's a great camera for the price!

I think they might be obligated to honor the rebate. There isn't anything on the form which states that it may be cancelled without notice. I also couldn't find anything on Fuji's website about the cancellation, so it probably hasn't been publicized too much. I'm going to try it and see what happens (keeping a copy of it, of course). Just a tip...if you use cnet to do the price comparison, pay attention to the shipping charges...some of the smaller companies they list have huge shipping charges.

Be careful because the rebate form says that you must send in an original form. The form I received from Mercata is one slip of paper in color. Not the black and white pdf one that everyone has. I don't know if they'll accept it. Especially since they cancelled it. I noticed the high shipping charges on the smaller Cnet stores. But you just add that to the price of the camera to price match it at Staples since they offer free shipping. I haven't done it, but I heard it works. Good Luck.
