| Anyone book a vacation package at Expedia?
Hi, I was wondering if anyone has booked a vacation package (flight plus hotel and/or rental car) from Expedia? Did you think you got a good or bad deal? Happy with the trip? Thanks, Sean P.S. Did you know Sidestep has changed its bargain-finding software so that you don't need to download anything to your computer anymore. great way to look for rental cars or hotels. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] Mobissimo is another good search service for airfare deals. |

| Re: Anyone book a vacation package at Expedia?
Sean, For Memorial Day weekend, I booked a flight+hotel through Travelocity for my husband to visit a friend in Cleveland. After much research, I found that it was cheaper to do the flight+hotel together and do the car separately as we had an Entertainment book coupon for a free car class upgrade and the costs were cheaper through the car rental web site than through Travelocity. Having said that, even though the hotel stay was paid for through Travelocity, my husband had to pay the hotel again upon checkout. Not having been there, I do not know if this was done in error or Travelocity had not already paid the hotel. So now, I have to fax a letter to Travelocity with the information regarding the original trip plus our credit card statement showing that he paid for the hotel again. I had to wait on hold quite a while with Travelocity customer service just to be told that information. If the information would have been provided via their web site, I would have been happier. Of course, if I would have been there, I would have questioned the desk clerk as to why I was being charged for the hotel when we had printed confirmation that the hotel was already paid for. Having said all that, would I do it again? Maybe. I will always check to see if there are better deals by going directly to the various airline/hotel/car rental web sites. And if I'm not going along, I will make sure to inform DH that he is NOT to pay any additional charges for the portions of the trip that were already paid. |

[QUOTE=oneillsdc5]Hi, I was wondering if anyone has booked a vacation package (flight plus hotel and/or rental car) from Expedia? Did you think you got a good or bad deal? Happy with the trip? Thanks, Sean QUOTE] I have used Expedia many times and have never had a hassle. Sometimes it pays to call the hotel directly with any questions before you book. For example, we have 5 people in our family and on our recent trip to San Francisco I tried using Expedia and Travelocity both for hotels. One would not let me book, one would. It turns out that San Fran has a law that says only 4 people in a room unless you get a suite. I would have been up a creek had I booked with the site that would have taken my reservation. Also, call to clarify things like: Is parking available? If so, is there a charge? Is there an aiport shuttle provided or will I need to pay for a cab? All these things affect your bottom line. I have used Expedia to book a hotel in Dublin, too, and again it was hassle-free. Usually the packages are cheaper, but I have done it both ways to get the best value. Have fun! Erin |
