Best Credit card rewards - gas rebate - $$ back deal for when you pay in full ?

I have had the Toys R US Visa card for years, I just got a letter, now they are raising the Rebate to 5% back when buying at Toys R Us, but in order to continue getting the 1% rebate on all purchases, you now must carry a balance of $500 a month , or you will only get .05% rebate. I want something without an annual fee, where I can get at least 1% rebate on everything I spend towards--either Gas, Cash or possibly gift certificates I am interested in. Anybody have any credit card deals like this? Thanks !

I have a BankOne (formerly FirstUSA) Visa. I get 1% cash back across the board. No annual fee, 25 day grace period, no minimum balance. You get one point for each dollar spent. You redeem your points in bunches of 2500 for a 25$ check. You call to ask them to cut a check, it appears about a week or so later. No waiting until the end of the year to calculate your rebate based on how much you spent for the year.
