I've had several people tell me they found the cheapest airfare at [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] but I haven't tried it myself. I also heard it was pretty hassle-free.

I tried [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] once a while back and got a pretty good deal. The only bad thing about that is you have to enter a definite departure date and definite return date, and you don't get a choice of airlines or time of day ... and I don't think you can change the dates. The deal is, once you've entered your 'offer' for each plane ticket, they either accept it or not. Some people suggest offering 1/2 price of the lowest airfare you can find elsewhere ... but I've heard 1/3 is a better starting point. I think if they accept it or not depends a lot on where you are flying to and from - how much an airline really wants to fill the seats.

Alaska Airlines might be your best choice. Since they have Non-Stop.

PDX to SAN $276

If you are flexible on Airports in California(within 100 miles)

PDX to ONT(ontario,calif) $ 235 August 7-August 12th

Flight Time only 2 hrs 15 minutes!

Was trying to look for shorter time frames, and less pain since
traveling with Kids.

I just got a ticket for my mother on hotwire.com. It was $100 cheaper than any other place I priced tickets. The deal with hotwire is you don't get to pick the airline or the flight times. She got a great deal after she committed to the ticket though. She either got really lucky or the times aren't really that bad. They give you the price before you decide if you want to commit to paying for it, but you only have 2 hours to decide then the offer is gone.

MrThrifty is an unknown quantity
The best fare I'm finding is at hotwire.com for $233 each. That's $100 less than tickets elsewhere.

I've used Hotwire a couple of times, with great luck. I actually got the itinerary I wanted when I visited cashhound in March, even though I didn't get to choose flight times.

I bought a ticket to Ecuador for this August, and it was actually the same, no matter where I priced it and no matter what airline. So I booked it with American, so I get more miles that way (by booking through their website). I couldn't believe the price was the same for Hotwire, Expedia, Travelocity, American, Continental, etc. AND, the price was the same whether I went through Fort Wayne (my choice) or Dayton, or Indy. That NEVER happens....
