| Looking at foodsavers the past year. Any feedback on the Tilia models vs Kenmore ?? Where's the best place to buy replacement bags?? Mostly would use it for freezing fresh meat, fresh fruit & vegetables, and storing bulk cheese. __________________ [Only registered and activated users can see links. | I have used the Tilia Foodsaver for a few years and love it - no problems. (I have not tried the Kenmore, but I understand major companies usually make the Kenmore brand.) I get my bags from a wholesale club - several rolls/2 different sizes. You can also try eBay, but there are a few different models, so figure out which one you want. You will LOVE how well your meat holds up with these vacuum packed bags - cheeses work well, too - hard cheese seals fine, but any soft or grated cheeses (or any squishy food, for that matter) do so much better if you freeze them firm first, then vacuum seal them. (Loaves of bread work well this way, too.) Same thing with things like spaghetti sauce ... freeze it in a plastic container ... then unmold and vacuum seal. Works like a charm! BTW, I've even frozen a bag of cooked spaghetti noodles, let them partially freeze up (before they get brittle) and vacuum sealed them. They defrosted and tasted almost like fresh cooked. I would have never thought it would work so well. An opened bag of store-bought brown sugar, closed with a twisty, will get hard lumps after a while ... but if you seal it with the Foodsaver, it will stay soft and just like you bought it from the store. Of course, it won't vacuum seal it because it's not a special bag, but it works very well. You can also re-seal potato chip bags. And, don't forget that you can wash out the bags if they're not distorted from heat (that's why I don't like to microwave or boil the bags), if there are no holes or tears, and if they're not too awful dirtied. You can reuse them a few times that way. __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links.
