I am looking to purchase a new 3-season tent for my family. Seen any deals out there? Also, since we are just starting out in camping, also looking for any and every deal and piece of advice that one can give me on equipment and/or places to camp on the southeastern side of the U.S.!! Thanks in advance. __________________ Check out these [Only registered and activated users can see links. I'm not really sure what kind or brand of tent you are looking for, But if you have a COSTCO near you they have some really great deals on family tents. |

I'm guessing the ones at Costco are really ONE season (summer) tents because they don't have real rainflys. We got ours at REI during a sale. It was about 15% off it's regular price, which isn't a great deal, but we got a nice 2 man tent with a full fly and a little vestibule (for the dog) with a footprint for about $140. Campmor (which is at [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or

My personal advice: Pay more for a better quality tent. I have purchased cheap tents before (40$) only to have the seams rip, zippers break, etc. Disgusting! One night it was "Invasion of the Creepy Crawlies" and we slept in the car. We purchased a Eureka! tent afterwards, with rain fly and patio awning. We have had this tent for 17 years. The zipper FINALLY gave out. We have stayed dry through severe thunderstorms where we had to trench around the tent. I bought a mid-line tent last year, a Kelty, three rooms for the privacy needs of three kids plus mom and dad and dog. Not as good as the Eureka!, but I didn't pay as much either. Think of it this way, pricing by cost per night used, the Eureka! was by far the most cost-efficient. We've only used the Kelty one season, so we'll see if it holds out for the grandkids. __________________ [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] |

Thanks for your post. Since my original posting, I have purchased a Cabela's tent that is $375.00! Haven't gotten it yet as it is supposed to arrive Monday. We also feel the same about quality, get what you pay for. Eureka would have been the very least we would have purchased after doing all of the research on them as I have. Cabela's is known for quality and durability as well. Thanks!
