| Cheap Desktop PC Good morning all, Has anyone stumbled across a cheap PC? Looking for a basic CD-ROM, XP Loaded, 1 Ghz, 128MB, 20 GB hard drive, speakers,...minimum specs.. Have pre-ordered the Microtel unit through Walmart for $299.00, but they are running 4-6 weeks on delivery (glut of orders, not available in the stores). Has anyone else stumbled upon a ready-to-use PC for under $300.00, recently? | Its not under $300 but.....I got my pc from peoplepc for about $800. It included 3 years of internet, tech support, and special offers from them. The computer is mine to keep and I just buy a new package every three years to renew my membership or I can keep the computer I have until I decide to renew from them. They have a payment option of $25/month roughly if that makes it easier. I paid in full because it saved about $100 that way.  Hi there Its not under $300 and dont think you can get a really good machine for that price. I have a NEW PC P4, 1.2 GHz, Windows XP, With all software included like Microsoft Office XP. | tcarr, I hate to say it but you get what you pay for ... Do you need a monitor? Or just the PC? If you are only needing a PC, e-mail me because I know of a site that has GREAT deals. You'll be amazed at how much you can save. I hesitate to share it with everyone since it's an auction site few people know of and it would drive up bids. MrT p.s. I got my parents an HP 7935 (retails for $800) for $375 shipped. The same model has been going for about $350 shipped recently. It has a 1.3 Ghz Athlon, 40 GB hard drive, a CD burner, 128 MB Ram, and XP on it. |

| Thank you for your help - everyone on the PC search. I was out of town for a few days - just got back. I am sticking with the Walmart $299.00 deal - with XP OS and all, how do you beat it. I checked out "People PC" a few years ago. Considering I can get internet access for $5.00 per month, it seems a bit expensive. I think they cover repair, but I have never had an issue with any PC to date, my oldest being 3 1/2 years old. The Walmart PC I purchased was for my father-in-law and it will suffice for his needs.
