Question

Few days ago someone posted a warning about using a Webcertificate for deals where you get 30 days free trial and such.
The warning was that Webcertificate will allow the charge to go through and charge the real credit card you used to sign up with them.

Does anyone know under what conditions Webcertificate would do that? Is there anything about this in their agreement?

On two occasions Webcertificate rejected the charges to my Webcertificate that were over the $7 that I have there. So I am trying to figure in what cituations will they let your balance to be negative.

Mark

Baffled

I am right now fighing with Travelers Advantage and my webcertificate. I signed up on April 10th and cancelled it about 3 days later. I had a cancellation number and everything but threw it away last month (it had been 5 months). Well, surprise, surprise, they charged my account on September 15th!!!! 6 months later!!!!!
They are giving me the "well, we need the cancellation number and persons name" Webcertificate is usually helpful, but thsi time they want me to work it out with them.
So, I'm out $60 right now until they get it straightened out. I'm not happy about this

I signed up with Webcertificate.com when they first had the $5 free. I have never given them a credit card number. I have a balance of $.22 on there and keep it for any of those free deals like you described. I even called Webcertificate to ask if it was okay to use them for that and the guy told me it was a great idea and he had never thought of it! I guess maybe only people like me are protected that have never added to their balance by giving a credit card #. I think it's strange they could turn around and charge your other card for something you gave their card # for. Maybe it's in the fine print somewhere. Thanks for the warning, tho. I'll make sure I never give them a credit card #.

I never keep to much money on my web cert. I put in $9. at a time and wait until its almost $0 and do it again. I use it for a lot of small things. Twice I have went in and checked and it has had a small negative balance. Both times $2 or less I think. They never let me know I went into a negative amount, and when I saw it I just added money to my account.
