Yesterday I called the SPCA, to ask what neglect meant, OK provide adequate food and shelter. My neighbor and I called this woman and spoke to her. Lets see, they could not remember the last time they saw her. They place 1/4 cup of food outside every other day. NOBODY pets the cat.(she said Newman was unfriendly and hates kids) Meanwhile my 4 year old is lugging Newman around in her arms and the cat snuggles by both of my kids when they are outside. They went to Florida for 2 weeks in February and left newman outside WITHOUT food for 2 weeks. BUT she said they LOVE and want him(I offered to keep him)we said Newman is outside laying on our chair and she could come get him at 4:00pm, they drove in my driveway at 9:30(at least I think it was them, they did not get out of the car)She told me that she is expecting her third child so they will put Newman in the basement! They have a dog and I admit, I was getting a little nasty, I asked if she fed her dog everyday, of course, she said. Do you pet your dog, certainly, we love him. I am a relatively new cat owner(we have had our one and only cat for a year, yesterday)but I don't get it, people just seem to act like cats are garbage, that they can "fend" for themselves. I have no idea if I am overeacting because we really enjoy Newman, or I'm just mad as heck for someone being so uncaring. ------------------ DealofDay.com Save Money, Have Fun Tami [Only registered and activated users can see links. O'my I'm so sorry - I am an animal lover and really get bent out of shape with people who don't take care of their pets. Next time, if you see the cat again, you didn't hear it here, but I would take the cat, put a new collar on it and say it is yours, that a friend from out of town gave it to you or something. Keep it in your house so it doesn't run around the neighborhood and make it yours...that way it will be safe and cared for. I don't usually agree with what I am recommending, but you now know the owners and their lack of appropriate care. Good luck, get your hands on that cat and keep it! ------------------ Yadda Yadda Yadda! [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] |

I totally agree with the idea of adopting this cat. You can either keep it as an indoor cat so they won't know or, as was our experience with a neighbor's ignored cat, just keep doing what you're doing and more of it. That cat will take to you even more and CHOOSE to live on your property, not theirs. Invite the cat in, feed and brush and love it and it will, for all practical purposes, be YOUR cat. Meanwhile, the family that "owns" the cat won't have to feel like heels for not really wanting or taking care of it. That's what we did and everyone wins!! GOOD LUCK!!!

My neighbor called the vet(that the rabies tag was from) and asked if Newman was a male or female, they checked and it is a MALE, well the cat that they put the tags on is a FEMALE. But they said Newman was a previous patient so they always assume that the owner is bringing in their cat. Now we have another cat that looks exactly like Newman(but runs away from people and his face is totally white). Could it be possible that they do not know their own cat????? Newman has not been here today, but if he appears and the weather is cold, Newman will be brought it and become a member of MY family! ------------------ DealofDay.com Save Money, Have Fun Tami [Only registered and activated users can see links. TAMI TAKE THE CAT!!! I'm so mad right now I could scream!!! I am one of those people who would break a car window if someone leaves a dog in it with the windows rolled up. People don't get the meaning of "neglect". ------------------ DealofDay.com Save Money, Have Fun! feel free to email me at [Only registered and activated users can see links. And here I was feeling guilty because I left my kitties for 23 WHOLE HOURS over Labor Day weekend. They had water& dry food in ther automatic feeders, but had been the horrible 23 hours w/out their canned food. I thought they were going to gnaw my legs off!! Have people ever heard of BOARDING thei pets when they can't take them with them, or as in our case if we are going to be gone more than a day, get a house/pet sitter!! I even leave a list with each pet's description and preferences!! And of course my vet's name & #.BEAT HER UP AND TAKE THE CAT!!!!!
