Another thread got me thinking!

Where would you like to live and why would you want to be there? Is it more who you are with, where it is, or what there is to do?

To start:
I live in Northwest Pennsylvania. I love the country and openness. We live here especially, however, because our families are here. I want my kids to grow up knowing their grandparents and cousins.

If I had to choose another place to live, it would be Bremerton WA. We lived there in 92 for about 6 months and really liked the area and people.

For me it is who you are with AND where you've been AND what there is to do! I live in So. Calif. mostly because I grew up here. My husband knows, however, if he got offered a better job across the country, there is no way I would want to leave because our families are mostly here and to me that is more important than a job. My husband hates the traffic and so many people here but I love how you can drive less than two hours and be at the beach, in the mountains or in the desert!

Cool

Check out the smiley! For me, the place I plan on returning to is Hawaii. I've never been one much for "family"; besides, exactly WHAT is "family?" I have chosen a great group of friends to be my "family" wherever I have lived (and I've lived ALOT of places). What I find very interesting is that so many people consider whatever place they have lived all their lives to be "the" place to live. I have found that attitude in nearly all the places I have lived.

Better watch what you say, hrdlife. As soon as you figure that you'll be somewhere forever, Uncle Sam will have you 2000 miles away! (Even though it isn't funny, LOL!)

For me, it would be somewhere on the Gulf coast.... like Gulf Shores, AL. On the beach,of course. In a pastel colored, Victorian-style cottage, complete with Spanish moss.

I am most fortunate to say I am living where I want, which is Colorado. I lived in Iowa for half of my life, but have no desire to return there, have a hard time with the humidity. I have grown to love the mountains and the mild winters. I must admit tho, I do love the ocean and the sounds of the waves at night, so I guess that explains why I always go on vacation to places like that! We have a stream that runs behind our home, and we can hear that at times, so that satisfys my "ocean-itis" at times!!!

My DH earned a trip to Australia through work a few years ago, and Sydney was absolutely the coolest place I've ever been. Low crime, very little polution, breathtaking harbor, and the nicest people. I don't think I'd want to move that far away from friends and family permanently, but if we had the opportunity to live and work there for two or three years, we'd jump on it!
