Rolling eyes Real women do have curves and are not a size 2...

Soap operas are finally getting the idea, and putting real women on their shows. This is a body size revolution, actresses who refuse to whittle down in order to blend in, and who are strong, confident and aren't ashamed of how they look.

For example, I got my photos back today of a trip DH and I took to Boston recently. I was walking around there in a stretch top and jeans thinking, boy, I look good. Well, why not think that right? Well...the photos revealed what I hadn't noticed, I just look so much bigger in them than I feel I am, but, I agree with those actresses, if you can be confident being the size you are, then why not! I wish ad agencies and movies and the like would stop promoting skinny women. Women with a little more weight are not inferior to skinny women. If you're happy with who you are, how you look, then be proud of that! People still say I am thin, but my hips don't lie.

People never say I'm thin (used to be way back when) but the way I see it there's just more to me to love

Being a 'real woman' has absolutely nothing to do with what size you are, whether you are a size 2 or a size 20. My oldest daughter is 5' 10" tall and she's lucky if she tips the scales at 120 lbs. She'd LOVE to put weight on, but she just can't. People make unkind comments about THAT, too. They just assume she's anorexic. She's not. She's ALWAYS been thin (well, except when she was a baby, and she was FAT - weighed 16 pounds at 3 months!) She's 22 now, and we keep telling her don't worry about being so thin, she'll probably put some weight on as she gets older.

So don't just naturally assume that because someone is thin that they starve themselves to be that way. Some thin women don't like being that way, just as some heavier women don't like being that way, either.

We're just too hung up on body size as it relates to how we feel about ourselves, and in most cases, we let others do that to us. Real 'people' know that being sexy or attractive has absolutely nothing to do with your size, but with how you feel about yourself.

I agree with you 110%, I have always said that "sexy" comes from within.........

You're right Pip, it's how you feel about yourself. I am tall like your daughter, 5'9 3/4, so you could say just about 5'10. I weighed 121 pounds for the longest time, right into my 20's and I could not gain weight. I used to buy Stout and drink that to gain weight with no luck. As I got older, I did put on the weight when my metabolism slowed down. 5'10" and 120 pounds, your daughter must look like a model! That's perfect model's weight.

Yes, she does look like a model, in fact, many people have asked her why she ISN'T modeling. She used to buy Ensure, and she did gain weight on that, but not much. Maybe 5 pounds. She has the longest legs you've ever seen!!!

You are right.......you can't please everyone. If you are too skinny people think something is wrong with you.....if you are too big they think you do nothing but eat all day.

I weighed 98 before I had my first child! I was LITTLE and believe me I ALWAYS heard about it from everyone. Then after my second child I was up to 130 lbs. Then after my divorce I got back down to 106 lbs. I am once again up to 130 lbs.......but alot of that due to meds. BUT I think I am at a healthy weight for my height......5'5". My doc said I could weigh up to 136 and be ok. I prefer to NOT go above my current weight though!

Everyone tells me that I look healthy now. I fill out my clothes better and although I have to admit I wasn't happy about going up to a size 8/10 I am ok with it because I am healthy and I feel good about myself and how I look. Sure, there are things I would LOVE to change........my stretch marks, my tummy, my hips.....lol but all of that is due to having babies! lol

I say hooray to the tv shows for allowing 'not so skinny' actresses to play important roles!! That is what we need........our daughters need to grow up knowing that not everyone is twiggy!! They need to learn to accept their bodies and feel good about it!

JMO!!
