Angry Grrh...finally figured out why the mail was sooo slow!

Okay...I made a post a few days ago asking if the mail was running slow anywhere else in the country, today I finally got my answer. I ordered something from Old Navy that was shipped the 6, and something from ebay shipped the 1st of Aug. Today in my mailbox I got a FINAL notice slip for both of the packages. We live in an apartment, so when we get a package the delivery person rings our doorbell, and we let them in with an intercom device. Today, I was home, and no doorbell, not even a knock. I check the mail, and there is a final notice slip, so I called the post office and explained the situation, and even though it was closed the guy told me he would be there for a little while and I could come pick them up. When I got there I showed him the slips and he informed me that they were my final notices and my packages were going to be shipped back today. I told the man that I never got a first notice, so I didn't understand why I was getting a final one. I told him I was on the verge of contacting the companies involved to find out about my packages already. He told me that because someone had handwritten that they tried to deliver the first package on the 5th and the second one on the 10th that they tried to deliver them. I told him repeatedly that I did not receive a notice, nor did anyone ring the bell or knock to inform me I had a package. I was so mad, it was like the guy was accusing me of lying, because everytime I told him I did not receive a notice he kept saying one was left. Our mailboxes have a lock on them, so no one could have stolen them! Finally he gave me the packages and told me to enjoy them! I looked on the packages, and whoever filled out the "tried to deliver" stamp had totally screwed it up. The ebay package said it was returned to sender on Aug. 20 and the Old Navy one said it was returned to sender on Aug. 23, both days that haven't even come yet. It just goes to show that whoever filled them out didn't want to take the time to deal with them and just wrote down whatever they felt like. I was so mad when I walked out of there that I wanted to just throw my packages back at him (if it wasn't things that I cared about, and if only they were heavier)! I just needed to vent...and yes, it looks like it is just NJ, just my part of NJ.

I have had similar problems with both the USPS and UPS.

We also live in an apratment complex with locked mailboxes. I have yet to have a mail carrier attenpt a delivery to my door. I am a SAHM and am at home most days so I am 99% of the time here when they claim they made a delivery attempt. They don't even leave me notices that I have a package. They just leave it in the complex office.

UPS is not much better. Normally they will automatically leave packages in the office with no attept to see if I am home.

I guess they think I must be psysic since they never leave a note saying that the packages are in the office. Of course, my managment office is just as bad because they never send a note telling me that the packagers are there either.

We had a similar problem with a new UPS guy. Since you can't park on my side of the street, he just parked his truck around the corner & then came to my door with the yellow "Sorry I missed you slip". The only problem with that was that I was waiting on the package (it was a work project) & watched him come up to the side of the house & just slap that notice on my mailbox. I opened the door to say something to him but he acted like he couldn't hear me & just went back to his truck.

OMG... I was so mad that I was so ready to chase him down, but our youngest was still a baby so I couldn't just leave the house. Instead I wound up calling the local office & they radioed his truck and made him turn around and redeliver that day. The regular UPS guy showed up the next day with another package for me & he apologized for the new guy. It seems that he told the dispatcher since a) there was no car in the driveway and b) I had a note up not to ring the bell since there was a sleeping baby, he just decided that it was best not to bother me. I just looked at the regular guy & let him know that this was a flat out lie - the new guy came to the door without a package in his hand & there was a car in the garage - the door was closed though when he delivered but he could have seen that if he'd bothered to just look through the window.

The best part was that the regular guy went back to the depot that night & told the dispatcher what had really happened - and then they FIRED the new guy. If he'd just told the truth - that he drove by first & he didn't see a car out so he assumed no one was home & didn't want to lug a heavy box around the corner for no reason, it would have been ok. But lying about it & making it seem like he came with the box & then left the note made the dispatcher mad enough to let him go on the spot.

Ok.. enough with my book! Hopefully you'll get a decent delivery person. My guy here knows exactly were to put everything & will leave things without a signature now that he knows me - maybe catching some of these UPS & FEDEX guys and letting them know who you are and the best place to either leave your boxes or how to contact you might mean a little faster delivery.

Can you say LAZY
I really do adore my mailman and my UPS driver (don't receive half the packages I used to). He still hasn't recovered from the zillion Osh Kosh packages I got way back when
BUT he does try totake advantage of the fact that I am a SAHM and home much of the time. We live in a condo and many (most) of my neighbors work......he'll take the package outta the truck, ring their beel and if they aren't home he'lloften ring my bell to see if I would sign for them.......Once or twice is one thing but it was getting outta hand. There's only 1 or 2 neighbors that I still sign for and 99% pf the time they receive medical supplies (insulin, etc). It is NOT my responsibility to sign for my neighbors Pampered Chef oder,etc.......
I just told him point blank that I'm not doing it anymore. Not my fault he's too lazy (lil shrimp of a guy too) to bring the box back to the truck
I LOVE venting.......
