Question Favorite Soap Opera?

I just had a customer in the store talking to me and she was talking about how crazy the tv shows have gotten lately...especially the soaps. She was telling me that on Days of our Lives aliens have landed? Then on passions there is demons running around?!

Do you have a favorite soap or what is your comment on some of these shows? Personally, being here at the store I don't get to watch them. But it sounds like reading a book woudl be easier and better! lol I mean, how could you keep up with all of that crap?!

Okay, I'll admit it.....I watch Days of Our Lives.....yes, aliens have landed (stupid storyline IMHO)....But it's the only soap I watch...I keep seeing promos for Passions and it about makes me puke!

The only time I ever really watched another soap was when my aunt's husband's nephew was on One Life to Live and that was only for like a couple of weeks!

I feel the same way. I'm not really a soap person ... But I started watching Day's with my Grandma when I was a little girl. And even though they have some really stupid stuff...I still watch.

The Passions promos are some of the most stupid ones I have ever seen. It just makes me think ...Who on earth would watch that?

Same story here, started watching (Days) with my Grandma. I don't watch regularly, but it's always easy to catch up. Seems like all the actors who leave eventually return.

Days and One Life to Live.

Jilly, what character did your aunt's husband's nephew play?

I used to be totally addicted to Days, but gradually weaned myself ...LOL I started watching the same way as the others - my grandmother AND my mother were huge fans! My mom to this day still watches it 3 or 4 times a week. I catch it maybe once a month - and I can still figure out what's going on - hee hee As for the stupid story lines - seems they always have those in the summer for some reason - maybe to entice the high schoolers home for the summer??

Used to be a bigtime "I'll die if I miss a show" Days of our Lives fan. Then it just started getting too Ridiculious! Honestly! Just how many times was Hope going to die? How many times was Stephano going to kidnap Marlena? And Sami's schemes to steal her sister's boyfriend.
Of course, even though it got ridiculous, I had to watch anyhow, and then Passions came on right afterwards and somehow I got into that one too. I just couldn't believe the stupidity of the whole show. IMHO, Passions is THE stupidest, most unrealistic Soap Opera ever with Days Of Our Lives closely following behind in Second place. I have not watched either in over a year or maybe longer? Couldn't tolerate the stupidity of it all.

I'm not a soap opera person but when I was younger and not working I used to watch "The Young and The Restless". It's funny 'cause the same actors are on that show today, the one who plays Victor, and of course Nikki. I used to love that show. The story never seems to change, someone getting a divorce, someone breaking up with someone. The term soap opera really does fit.

You mean, besides DOD?

JUST KIDDING Y"ALL!!!!!

I like Days, but do not watch often. I would lose my domestic goddess standing if I were to watch soaps all day!

I'm an avid OLTL and GH watcher and every now and then I might catch a little of Y&R, B&B, and AMC. However I've been receiving free subscriptions (almost over ) for Soap Opera Digest and Soap Opera Weekly and catch up on all the above (as well of DOOL for a friend)! Some days I can take them or leave them and others they are a no-miss!

It has been great that my girls have always taken their nap during my soaps and commercial time I'm high tailing it to get things done.....dishes, clothes from washer to dryer, vacuuming, etc.

Baffled semi-addicted

i admit to sometimes watching days. I dont make my life revolve around seeing it and i can easily go months without it, and of course i am still caught up

I hate to admit i have gotten into passions also. I was really mad when another world got cancelled and passions came on instead, it seemed to tiny bobberishy (like that word) but somehow i was already sitting down watching one soap i might as well watch another I like some of the characters but now it is really stupid and i hardly watch it any more. I easily get up after days, i mean i finish putting the laundry i just folded away during days, and turn the tv off when passions comes on

The only one I watch is GH but I tape it and then watch the entire weeks worth at once.

Did you all know that if you don't have to watch the commercials then an hour soap only takes about 40 minutes? Sorry, but I HATE commercials... so the only way I can deal with TV is if it's on a tape & then I can just zap them out.
