Question

I just got the biggest teasing from my husband because he actually counted the pairs of shoes I have. Now I'm not Imelda Marcos by any means, but I do love shoes.

I'm way too cheap to spend a lot of $ but I love expensive shoes - so I shop Dillars, Foleys, & Nordstrom's clearance sales (can get $120 pair of shoes for around $20).

But - grand total was 43 pairs of footwear - see, he counted slippers and snow boots which I don't think is fair

Help me out here, who else loves shoes and how many do you have? I have to show him that I'm not the only one...or am I?

ang - I'm at work right now, so I can't do an exact count, but I'm visualizing my closet and my shoe-rack-thingys (2 hanging racks and 1 cabinet) and I'm gonna give a rough estimate of 50-55. You are not alone. The great thing about shoes is that when you go shopping, it doesn't matter how fat you may be feeling that day, a nice pair of shoes will still look good on you!

I don't think I could help you out here, because I don't own more than 10 pairs. heheh. But I think I'm starting to become a shoe-freak because I've bought 2 pairs in the last 2 week period!

Ang, I just did a quick count of 60 pairs. Five I've never worn once. I live near a Dillard's Clearance Center where all the regional clearance merchandise that doesn't sell in the stores gets sent at 50 to 75% off. My DH and I went there one day; he went his way, I went mine. I found shoes that were 75% off to begin with were an additional 50% off that day only. I bought 8 pairs. Imagine the look on my DH's face when we met back up and I was carrying two huge shopping bags with four boxes of shoes in each! I have weeded out a lot, 5 years ago when I had a "dress up" job, I had over 100 pairs. I think your response to your DH counting your shoes is to say, "Oh, no! My shoes to clothes ratio is way off! I better buy more clothes!"

ROFLMAO!!!!!! I read the post to my dh and he told me to hand over the Visa! I told him it didn't matter, I've done so many deals I know the # so well I can shop in my sleep

Glad to show him that I'm not the only one. But I've noticed he didn't complain about the heels - more about 4 pairs of sandals, 3 snow boots, that sort. He also doesn't complain that he has every color shoes he needs to be well-coordinated. So why can't I?

I need a rainbow of colors in heels, flats, pumps, sandals, tan & white Ked-type (see, too cheap to buy real Keds ) regular tennis shoes for when I'm out mowing the lawn or something, aerobic shoes, winter boots, dress boots, bunny slippers and regular slippers, and the chunky-heel dress-casual mix shoes (blue, black, brown).

Gosh, all this shoe talk now I'm jonesin' for a new pair - better go visit nordstrom.com!

60 Bunny?!?!? You've given me something to aspire to You too, stumblori, can one day have this many if you keep at 2 a week

Oh yeah - "The great thing about shoes is that when you go shopping, it doesn't matter how fat you may be feeling that day, a nice pair of shoes will still look good on you!" You are so right Kim!!!!! Better than chocolate!

Thanks for all the replies by the way

I have actually bought a couple different pairs of shoes that I had absolutely nothing to wear them with and knew it, but bought them anyway. Then I was on a three month mission to find an outfit to match. One reason I think I have so many pairs is that they feel fine when you try them on, then when you wear them for the first time they kill your feet, so to the back of the closet they go. Then you find a pair that feels so comfy that you go back and buy them in every color. I, too, love Keds. At one point, I had 12 different colors/patterns. Now I am down to three. I bet if I counted, I'd find that my DH has at least 20 pairs himself.

Thumbs up

I used to be the SHOE QUEEN! My mantra is "you can never have too many pairs of black shoes". However, since I became a stay at home mom, I've had to curb my shoe cravings, both because I rarely get dressed up anymore and because I am trying to save money. That doesn't stop me from hyperventilating and whipping out my checkbook whenever I go to the AJS Shoe Warehouse, though.

OMG, I just went to my closet and counted! I have 45 pairs of shoes! And that doesn't include my $15 off Skechers beach shoes which are on the back deck!

And I just took two trash bags of shoes to the Salvation Army yesterday!

Well, thank God for freebies, is all I can say. :-)

That's one thing about being a SAH mom - I'm always looking for excuses to "dress up" and wear my cute shoes.

Yes, black shoes are a must! Dressy, heels, flats, pumps, casual, sandals, at least one pair each in black

I'm so glad I'm not alone! Read all your posts to my dh and he just thinks we're all crazy. So...I ordered HIM a pair of shoes this morning

Re: Keds - When I worked at Nordstrom back in the late eighties, I had EVERY COLOR THEY MADE (including a pink and white striped pair). I currently have about 8 pairs of Keds-type shoes and 2 pairs of actual Keds - 1 pair is white and has a strange print, with all types of "breakfasty" pictures - bacon & eggs, coffee mugs, etc. Love these! The other pair of Keds are very special to me. When my husband and I first talked about getting married, he told me in joking that he wanted me to wear flats (I'm about 2 inches taller than him). So, as a little surprise, a year later, halfway-through our wedding ceremony, during my vows (which we wrote ourselves), I told that story, and changed shoes, from my beautiful white kenneth cole wedding pumps, into a pair of white leather keds! It was one of the funnest moments of the wedding - between the look on his face and the laughter and applause!

I don't know how many pairs of shoes I own - not many at all. But what I want to know is this: how do you all insert the little message icons (smiley face, thumbs down, etc.) into your text? I can't get it to work!

Kim - that is too funny & sweet! I bet you'll have those for the rest of your life, even if they get worn out

Shandi - I'm not the most knowledgable about faces, but for smilies for frowns, without spacing, do a colon : and then a parenthesis ) for smile or ( for frown. The board somehow magically turns these into faces I'm sure someone else can tell you how to do others.

Kaylap - did you buy a pair? Do tell!
