I never ever blow dry my hair, I always let it dry naturally. It takes forever to completely dry. Sometimes I can wash it in the morning and it will still be damp underneath that night.

The only complaints I really have it that it has a tendency to get stuck everywhere. I always get it caught in the seat belt buckle, never realize it until I get halfway out of the car, then suddenly I get pulled back in. OUCH! It really hurts. Also when the wind is blowing I need a seeing eye dog, that hair gets in my face and I can see NOTHING. Also when the wind is blowing I have to be careful if I'm walking with someone. People say it really hurts when my hair blows around and smacks them on the face.

Oh, also I never use a brush, only a comb, my hair loves to try and eat any brush!
My hair's not nearly as long as yours but other than that, I could have written this post. My hair takes forever to dry, gets caught in everything, "rejects" accessories, etc. ugh. It's only to my bra strap in the back, but it's thick and there's a lot.
I think it's time to cut it but I'm afraid my face will look fat.

My dh seems to think I never admit to anything, sooo....heehee I hear ya on the long hair styling situation....I get so bored pulling it back all the time. LMBO Sorry, not meant at you, but what you said...I wish I was bald... I've told my dh before that I was going to shave it all off and just get a bunch of wigs...LOL I'm the type that would do that, too....heehee

I used to have that trouble with my hair...curling up, but now that it's this long, it pulls the curls right out of it...wwwaaaaaaa I'll have to check your pic out in a few...

I have thought about short hair but really think long hair is easiest because i dont have to style it or anything. I also cut the ends myself since i always pull my hair up it doesnt matter if i cut it straight or not

karen - who had hair down to her butt a few months ago, and will again by xmas time
Oh, don't get me started on losing hair...heehee My part just seems to get wider every day...sigh

WOW Wish my hair would grow that fast...it's taken at least 8 years to get it this long...

Couple of tips...
I used to trim my split ends...I no longer have split ends. Things that I am doing differently.

1. I eat mainly whole nutritious foods, no processed foods, no soda, minimal chemicals. Makes a BIG difference (with everything...skin and finger nails also)

2. I use Pantene PRO-V Conditioner daily and Pro-V Deep Fortifying Treatment (conditioner) Restore & Renew weekly.

Like I mentioned before, I wash & go. But if I'm going out and need to look neat, I comb my hair like Daizy, bottom up, and use Pantene leave in conditioning spray (great detangler for kids too!)

I color my hair also but I only do roots and only use half each time. I use Herbatint, permanent herbal hair dye cream/gel.

I get LOTS of compliments on my hair. Most think it's my natural color.

I just measured my hair, it's 30". Here's a recent pic.
well...I don't know how to post a pic here, but it's at this website

My profession is a preschool teacher (that pic was taken off hours in my daycare). We do lots of messy projects and I have 3 little ones of my own and have had long hair the whole time. I just double up my pony tail in a scrunchy either in back or on the side. I can put up in bun with thin pony tail holder & butterfly clips. I sometimes will split the pony tail in 2, braid each & wrap them around the pony tail making a braided bun, secure w/ butterfly clips. I also swiss braid (opposite of french) if time allows..which I'm outta right now! hehehe Thanks for letting me share

I loved your pic!!! From what I could see your hair looks really pretty...

Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children across the U.S. under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss.
We meet a unique need for children throughout the United States by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.

HAIR DONATION GUIDELINES

We accept 10" minimum hair length (tip to tip), not wigs, falls, or synthetic hair
Please bundle hair in ponytail or braid
Hair needs to be clean, dry, and placed in a plastic bag
We need hair from men and women, young and old, all colors, and all races
Hair may be colored or permed, but not chemically damaged (if you're not sure, ask your stylist)
Hair swept off the floor is not usable
Hair cut years ago is usable as long as it has been stored in a ponytail
Hair that is short, gray, or unsuitable for children will be separated from the ponytails and sold at fair market value to offset the cost of manufacturing
You may pull curly hair straight to measure the minimum 10"
The majority of all hair donated comes from children who wish to help other children
Layered hair may be put into more than one ponytail for donation

I've heard of this and think that's probably what I would do...thanks for the suggestion!!!

Really cool ppl hang there....sorta like you guys and you learn so much from them...maybe not so much deals, but about computers ~ yes!
Oh, and I have to make a correction on the name of the braid I make on myself, it's actually called a Dutch Braid, not a Swiss Braid....instructions here:

Maxie X...Thank you sooooo much for the link for different braids. My hair is VERY thick and I have a hard time doing anything with it when it's down. I usually put it up with some little clips in a funky design just to get it out of my face! I love french braiding my hair but it would be nice to do something different. I'll have to practice doing it though..the dutch braid looks a little more complicated than the french braid.

I recently got a flat iron to try and smooth down my hair but on really humid days like today it just doesn't work! Right now it's like 94 degrees with a heat index of 114!!

[font=Arial][i][color=Blue]I have beautiful long thick curly brown hair and I love it! My hair is about 32" long when you stretch the curls out. I find having long hair to be the easiest kind of hair to take care of. I never have to blow dry it or style it. It just naturally falls into place. I can wear it braided, in a ponytail, part up , part down...there are so many options. Years ago I went to a salon and got a short haircut and it was one of the saddest days in my life. It felt horrible to try to run my fingers through my hair only to find that there barely was any. I would spend hours styling and blow drying my hair. That's way more time than I want to have to spend on my hair when there are alot more things I'd rather be doing. Sure I use more shampoo and conditioner, but I save that money and then some by never having to go to the salon again. I cut my own hair, use extra conditioning treatments when I feel it's necessary, and now that a few grays are starting to come, I even color my own hair (but only with temporary hair color) My hair is so thick it's actually hard to even see the few grays, but I know it's there so I do that every 2-3 months. If anyone out there is even thinking of cutting their long hair, think twice before you do it. Remember, when you have short hair you're stuck with that one style for quite a while and if you do decide to let it grow out, you have to go through that horrible growing out stage where no matter what you try you can't do anything with it.

Re: What do you do with long hair....

Oh Unicorn1213 I soooo agree with you. I too had long hair and got it cut. I did it to donate it to Locks of Love. It is a wonderful charity and it wasn't as painful as I thought it would be to go short. The only problem is now I have to blow dry everyday. I have very, very straight hair so I have to use a round brush when I blow it dry. It takes me approx 20 minutes every morning just to do my hair. Oh how I miss the days where my hair was all one length and long. I used to wear alot of pony tails or would put it in a bun. I'm in the process of growing it back out. uuuggghhh
