Who knew? Gene Simmons and philosophy...

I'm watching him on Last Call w/ Carson Daly...

He is insanely philosophical. Plus...I've learned so much about him. (pardon me, but I've never been really into Kiss an therefore don't know much about him)

I've never seen him without makeup...not bad.
He's from Isreal.
He has his own magazine out now...Tongue.
He's had the same gf for 19 years, but doesn't believe in marriage.
He loves his gf dearly, but is somewhat (ok very...claims 4,600) free in bed (hope you all decoded that).

The list goes on and on.

I guess I've been living under some rock...Gene Simmons is cool. I may not agree with all he does, but overall (no drugs, never been drunk, never smoked) he rocks!

Did you assume since he was in a Rock band that he WOULD smoke and drink and sleep around????? (although he admitted to the sleeping round part) or that he would have NO philosophy on Life????

I always liked KISS and have seen em many times in concert. Nothing wrong with playing an instrument and singing in my book

I assumed nothing in my book since I wasn't familiar with them (Kiss) or with him (Gene Simmons). Just because you're in a band means nothing to me, other than you're in a band.

I just found the conversation with him last night very interesting. I made this post as it was inlightening to me to get to know a bit about him. I saw him as a very intelectuall person and that was pleasing.

It seems it was not I who made the assumptions.

i had never known that about gene simmons either jeni so that's pretty cool...i never paid attention to kiss or gene simmons really...have lots of older friends who like WORSHIP kiss but i never saw what they liked so much...i don't like their music at all so i never bothered to learn anything about them...so watching that show would've opened my eyes too. not because i made any "assumptions" but because i just never paid attention to him/them before. thanks jeni, ya learn something new everyday huh!

Was never a big Kiss fan myself. I saw some VH1 thing about them not that long ago, but I don't think these things were mentioned. I do find it interesting when musicians are able to stay away from the lifestyle that destroys so many of them.

I'm afraid there are many more stories about life-destroying lifestyles in the rock/heavy metal circle than clean-living upstanding lifestyles. Just a fact!

And yes, I would assume Gene Simmons followed along that lifestyle, so it was interesting to hear otherwise.

Wish I could have seen the interview! He always has seemed like an interesting person.

KISS ~ an awesome band, awesome style with a very, very large awesome following of all ages. Anyone into guitars respects the talent of Ace Freeley.
I knew Gene was one crazy MF but did not know he was anti-drug, alcohol (personally anyways).
Another crazy MF not into drugs/alcohol is Ted Nugent. He says he gets high on sex. Bet those 2 would get along just fine
Sounds like a "DEUCE" to me....
(ok, enough of the pun...lol)

P.S. can you tell which rock band I saw in concert recently that inspired the look of my avatar???

A Simple question.


Just because someone is in a rock band, or a star or in the public spotlight in some way, I don't automatically think one way or another about them. I was ASKING based on the Title of this thread. She acted surprised that he was a "normal" person.....Hey, If I'm wrong correct me, that's why I ask questions I make no assumptions.

A Simple question.

I just thought it odd that you seemed shocked that someone would assume that about him. I think it's a pretty typical assumption of him, or any 70's 80's hard rock group.

It is right to assume that of someone? No, probably not. But is it normal? I'd think so.

My brother's friends were all metal head stoners in the 80's, and I don't think they have enough brain cells to have a philosophy on life. LOL

Sometimes we do lump certain people together - and when we see them for who they really are - it's eye-opening!
