Don't be scared about it, Shaina. I was GD with my first and I really enjoyed all the extra appointments to hear the baby's heartbeat and for all the extra ultrasounds. Luckily, my job was very flexible and everything was done in my OB's office where they booked all of my appointments ahead of time so I'd get a time that worked great.

You know, I was thinking about it, and the way I figure it....I will do whatever I have to do. Whatever the Dr. says is in the best interest of the baby. I am up about 20 lbs. from when I first got pregnant so hopefully that won't hurt. Good luck Suzanne. You are in my thoughts.

Hugs and prayers coming your way. I had that sicky test too, with my second child, and did not have GD tho all babies were between 9 and 10 pounds. Hope you have good news for us soon, but know that we will all support you any way we can, regardless.

My glucose level was at 151 for the one hour test. I went that day to get new test trips and lancets and of course started going by the diet. Tne nurse practitioner said my target blood sugar should be between 65 and 130. I'm testing myself upon waking and then 1 hour after each meal. The first result is always at the low end of the range, but on Friday I could not get the after meal tests below 130 for anything. I guess my body needed to adjust a little, because yesterday and today I'm doing great. In fact, today an hour after breakfast and lunch, it's still under 120! So hopefully doing this now will do the trick for that 3 hour test!

I didn't gain much with my girls ~ 12 lbs. with my first and 13 with my second. I've told this baby he only gets 14! LOL! At my appointment last Thursday the tally was 9-1/2 lbs, in fact I lost a 1/2 lb. from the last month. I'm sure I'll gain more than 4-1/2 lbs. in the next 3 months, but who knows, this diet may keep him in line with his sisters.

GOOD NEWS!!!

I took my 3 hour test on Friday 7/5 and then we went on vacation, but came back last night in time for this morning's doctor appointment. All is doing well and I passed my 3 hour test! WOO HOO! No nutrition counselor, no non-stress tests twice a week, just going to cruise this pregnancy like the last. I still have to watch what I eat and have been monitoring it anyway, but doc said I really don't need to monitor as long as I continue to eat right. And as of this morning, I actually lost another 1/2 poind, so my total gain up to now with this one is 9 lbs!

texas_sweetie is an unknown quantity
Hey glad to hear the good news. My stepdaughter took the 3 hr test last Friday also. Seems her doctor makes everyone take them when they get so far along. We haven't heard the results yet but she goes back to the doctor in the morning. The doctor wasn't happy with her last time cause she told her not to gain more than a pound she gained six. This time she said no more than 4 , I'll be surprised if she didn't gain it. She has gotten back with the babies father and they eatr out fast food every nite and she's not drinking water like she was. She is so hard headed and doesn't want to listen to anyone. But then again she's 19 and thinks she's wiser than us. Well I've rambled enough about my headaches. So I hope you breeze thru the rest of your pregnancy and before long that sweet little boy will be here.

Just start eating really good until you take it! I can scan and email you the diabetic diet they gave me at the doctor's. They said to follow it for about a week then go take the 3 hour and a very good percentage have then passed the 3 hour. Just let me know!

And when you do go take it be sure to take lots of reading material......once they start the test you cannot leave the lab - you walk out the door, the test ends.

Sorry to hear that. I hope your next test goes well. It can be annoying for something you have to go back, take over again. Hope the outcome is better this time for you.

Thanks, guys! I am scheduled to take the yucky 3 hour test this Wednesday morning starting at 7:30am. I will bring lots of reading material...they told me I can't leave the testing lab during the three hours.

Thanks for offering to email me the diet, Suzanne, but I think it is too late since I am going so soon. I hit week 30 on Wednesday also so they wanted me to take it as soon as possible.
