Need info on getting a good dvd player for a good price

I guess I'm going to be giving in to the very vocal and pouty members of my household and buying a DVD player this weekend. Any suggestions about where to price shop and good/bad brands?

First thing i would tell you is you get what you pay for!! So i would spend between $400-$500 dollars for one. Second i would buy a Sony, they seem to be the best when coming to picture and sound on a Dvd players. If you want reviews on dvd players go to amazon there are tons of reviews on all types of dvd players. I'm very happy with this model and would change it for the world. If you have the money then go higher on the price $700-$1000 dollars. But i would not buy one of the cheaper model out there. The Sony DVP-S550D DVD go for at amazon for $499.99 But i paid only $399.99 for the floor model.
Any ways thats my thoughts on picking out a Dvd player!

They had several dvd players there.
We got one at mercata a few months ago ~the sharpdv600U
and so far had no problems with it and I like the compact size since mostly we have not done a change over from vhs. It fits right beside our vcr in the entertainment center. I didnt want to spend a fortune on one and figured I got this one for about the price of a good vcr! IN about the 140.00~150.00 range with coupons at different places right now.
