Shocked

I am SO impressed with everyone!!! I have been teaching for 8 years and NEVER gotten an end of the year gift!!!

I would LOVE to have a card handwritten with a message from the student (or parent) and treasure that....

I teach at a residential school for seriously emotionally distrubed children but still, an occasional "way to go" for taking all the verbal (and at times physical) abuse would be appreciated.

Oh, we did get a $341 raise for next year....yes, for the whole year.....we buy supplies out of pocket....

For my sons' teachers we bought a 4 or 6 inch terra-cotta flower pot with the base and then would paint with acrylic paint, thier name, my son's name and the school year with a pretty design on it. One of the teahcer's really liked dogs so we painted dog biscuits all over it and then put in a small flower like an impatien or petunia. It's inexpensive, personal, pretty, and they can stick it outside to enjoy all summer long.

I, too like Whitequeen have many to buy for, 4 teachers, 3 aides, 2 speech therapist, an OT & a PT.........plus I get a token gift for the 2 PE Teachers, music teacher & art teacher. I got at Target(on a 90% clearance of course!) travel coffee mugs....so I thought I'd use those with a gift certificate(to Starbucks - thanks Lizard Collins!) in the mug for the 4 therapists. I got a few pens with look like 50 bills on them...I'm going to pair them up with a few scratch tickets for the token gifts. Now I'm only stuck with coming up with 7 other decent gifts...actually 5(I am giving 1 teacher & 1 aide the coffee mug thing). Will have to put some real thought into this over the weekend........

Joy,
It's very very sweet of you to do this for your therapists. So often, SLPs, OTs and PTs are truly forgotton entirely. As I posted before, a handwritten NOTE would be meaningful, but often as not, we just get blown off! We work very hard for kids, but parents don't see us or hear from us as much as they do the classroom teachers, so it doesn't SEEM like we're as involved with your kids as the teachers, but we most definetly are. Often, we are the ones who advocate for the kids when the teachers can't see past general curriculum and behavior issues. We truly work "behind the scenes," and it's SO nice of you to acknowledge the work of YOUR therapists!
