Have you tried a really hot shower? That should loosen things a bit. If that doesn't work, have you checked with your doctor to see what might be causing this? Use daily aerobic exercise for backaches. Wear shoes designed to absorb shock, like running shoes, or shock absorbing inserts which are available at sporting goods stores which may help reduce your back pain. Use aspirin, Advil or Tylenol to ease your back pain. Yoga and water exercises help some people with back problems. Do you smoke? To decrease your back pain you should stop smoking. Smoking reduces the amount of oxygen that travels to the spinal disks at night while you sleep. If you smoke, you will have double the amount of back pain than if you didn't smoke. Also, try a heating pad or ice, whichever your body responds to. |

You know this sounds stupid, but many problems related to back problems have been because of people not drinking enough water. I believe the recommend drinking 8 glasses of water a day.

I'm nursing a bulging disk right now...so helping back pain is all I've been doing for almost a month now... First, try some Biofreeze, and then put some Biofreeze on it. Then when you've put some Biofreeze on, you might want to put some Biofreeze on. Ice and/or heat. Ibuprofin or Aleve (generic is Naproxen Sodium). I also have a ton of exercises to do too...send me a note and I can share those if you like ![]() Hope you're feeling better soon Dev...

I'm glad Tasker finally mentioned the chiropractor route, that's what I was ready to suggest. Another idea that hasn't been mentioned that I love is a Therapy Ball..have you seen them? They're large (huge) exercize balls and they come with videos sometimes. My gym actually has a class that focuses on them. I have one in my office even for when I've been sitting too long. Another idea...have you tried the new "Therapatch" products? I was skeptical, but tried them last week for menstrual cramps and I was amazed..they really do work! |

Just wanted to add that I am a BIG fan of the Therapatch line of products also. I have tried quite a few of them...(the one for cramps is awesome) and they really offer alot of relief.

I have a TENS unit for chronic back pain. Outside of surgery (not an option in my case) there is not much that can do any better than this little unit. Most medical supply companies carry them. They can be clipped onto your belt for portability.
