I get so many that it is hard for me to find my "real" mail in the middle of it all. I also heard that if you hit the unsubscribe button that it can actually do more harm than good? Is that true? My block sender is worthless. Every time I block an address it is back the next day. I am so sick of it all. |

Umm.. guys.. I don't think you understand here. I get TONS of spam too, but this time it says the sender of that spam email is ME! I didn't send out any spam! Yes.. in the "FROM" line it has my address!! That means some computer smart type person changed the sender address from their own to mine so the spam would be traced back to me instead of them! Ugh!!!

I don't think it will trace back to you, but they have found a way to get around you blocking out the "from" address by using yours. I get this quite a bit in hotmail but never in my regular email. I also never use my main account for any sweeps or registrations. I think that cuts down on the amount of spam I get.

I've also received spam from myself. Believe me, if your e-mail address showed up as the source of the nuisance to other people you'd know it by now because you would have received a ton of angry replies. About six months ago I got fed up with spam and have actively waged a war on it. I learned how to read and decode extended headers and report everything I receive to the appropriate ISP, the companies that the spam advertizes- spammers sign up for affliate programs and are supposed to only use links on their web sites, not spam- and, in the case of obvious fraud, the FTC. |
