| Maxie, you are right.....public awareness is the key. However...although it is important to find out what causes autism it is more important to those parents with children with autism to to whatever it takes to see that their child can be the very best that they can be. If vaccinations were was what was "causing" autism....I'd be totally on board. BUT vaccinations do not "cause autism. Todate the cause of autism is unknown. Vaccinations (based on current and believable theories) seems to sometimes bring out autism in some children. However not all children with autism are a result of vaccinations. There are ways to have the vaccinations(now that we know this piece) with out causing the high mercury counts. But there is a huge poplulation of children that this does not pertain. The research needs to done on the chromosonal (sp?) level and genetic makeups.
But by the time parents are done providing for their child, fighting the school system for the appropriate services and just trying to get society to understand..........there isn't a whole lot of time left or energy to fight for research. Everyone does the best they can........and believe me if they could think of a way to do it all they would. ~Joy
