Well since I can't post what REALLY makes me pause & say wow...

Watching my dog sleep on the pillow next to me... all curled up in a ball. She whimpers sometimes and kicks her feet as she sleeps... must be a decent doggy dream. It's really sweet.

Also reading the next several pages of my boyfriend's latest novel. I love to see how he develops the story or works out a particular plot snag. I am in aww of his creativity most of the times.

And I love a good lightening show. Thundar is okay, but I really enjoy watching the "light show" from a window with all the lights shut off.

Tasker.. that picture was beautiful! Loved it!

What makes me say wow? Well, mostly nature related things. Not storms though! I hate storms! I'm a FREAK when it comes to storms! I used to love them when I was little, but then I got caught in a bad one with hail and all and it was frightening.. later found out there had been a tornado that passed not far from the area I was in at that time too!

So the things that make me say wow is Sunsets/ sunrises, mountains, the sky at night, the moon, a really large beautiful tree, creeks/streams, animals.. I could go on and on. Back in VA, I used to always watch in awe the Hawks flying around in circles in the sky. Our house was also in the woods there and I would go walk back in the woods, sit at the base of this HUGE beech tree by the creek and just watch and listen. It was really beautiful back there that year we had the big ice storm followed by snow. I took pictures and maybe if I can find a good one, I'll post it. I really miss my woods! We did have a bunch of deer out in the corn field behind us a few weeks ago and I sat here for about 2 hours and just watched them. Really they were fascinating!

I also think babies being born are wonderful. Hopefully I'll get to watch my goat give birth this year or next! I missed it last year! Didn't realize she was even pregnant. (Gee.. where'd that baby goat come from?? ) Goats are difficult to tell if they are pregnant or not, so I don't know if we're getting one this year or not. They get so fat and fluffy in the winter! If we are, she's due any day now and we're in competition to see who's giving birth first! If she isn't, it will be disappointing, but kind of relieving because I cannot take care of my own baby and hers at the same time!

Something else that makes me stop and say Wow is when my kids are actually behaving! Last week I was really surprised with my 5 yr old son! I had to meet with a dietician at the hospital. She had an office right across from the OB family waiting room that had a TV in it with the Cartoon Network, so we sent him over there and left the doors open so we could see & hear him. This appointment lasted a little over an hour and I only heard him once when he walked across the hall to ask me for his water bottle (a sports bottle, not baby bottle! ).

Oh! And I almost forgot! When someone actually holds the door open for you! I really am impressed when a teenage boy will run to open the door for you! It's really annoying when you are obviously pregnant, carrying one child on your hip and holding the hand of another one and people just drop the door on you. I wanted to kiss a teenage boy last week for going out of his way to open the door for me at Walmart! It was cold, windy, I had two kids in tow, and I was exhausted from just walking from the parking lot to the door! For all of you - male or female, who open doors for people, I THANK YOU! What you do is appreciated beyond words!

Oh wow tasker, what an AWESOME picture. I hope you don't mind, but I am now using it as my desktop wallpaper!! That is....WOWOWOWOWOW!!!!

Jen, ohhhhhh the only thing better than having the door held open for you is to watch one of your own children rush to holdit open for someone else. BTW, I mean open the door and stand aside while the other person walkes through. Not one of those hand behind the back deals just to keep it from slamming on someone.
I love watching the reaction of people when one of my boys act like little gentlemen!

The kindness of strangers! My kids and I found ourselves locked out of the van at a shopping mall (my 4 year old was trying to be helpful by closing the sliding door, but unfortunately I hadn't gotten my keys and purse out yet!) My DH was out of town, I didn't have any spare keys, no cell phone, just a few dollars in my pocket, etc.

We went in the mall to find the security guard. He had no suggestions other than calling the car dealer. I found out later that security won't use slim jims anymore because of the electric locks. Sometimes the slim jim will short your locks, like I cared!!!(I was getting ready to ask him for his baton so I could just smash the window!) I was feeling so desperate!

While we were waiting outside the van with the security guard, a young couple was getting in their car (parked next to mine) to leave the mall. The young man asked me if I wanted him to call AAA. Unfortunately, I am not a member. He and his GF started talking and told me they would call AAA and tell them they had been at the mall with me and we locked the keys in the van. I guess AAA covers you if you are a driver or passenger. So, they waited a good 20 minutes with us while we waited for AAA. I have never been so relieved or thankful!

Well the #1 thing that will make me go wow is to hear my 2 yr. old neice say" I love you , Aunt Cheryl" , it's the sweest thing my ears have ever heard and to know that this child loves me unconditionally and doesn't care about my faults is an awesome feeling. Childrens innocence is the greatest thing.

The second thing that makes me say wow is sharing sunsets with my husband Mark. Because of him I've seen some awsome sunsets in 21 different states. But the best part was sharing them with him.

Haven't seen many, but a shooting star is incredible to see. Also, the ocean. And even after nearly 15 years of marriage, when DH looks at me a certain way, the look in his eyes just makes my heart skip a beat.

1. my baby boy in bed with his arm curled around his stuff bunny

2. my girls with arms and legs entwined as they sleep

3. those same little girls whispering secrets before drifting off to sleep

and 4. my husband bragging on his children to family and friends and never once mentioning that they are "steps"

Oooo.. I hadn't thought of mentioning that one. My dh does that too and it certainly is something to say Wow about! He is always bragging about Michelle, my 6 yr old dd. She had just turned a year old when dh & I started dating and he took to her immediately! When she FINALLY started talking a little bit she called him "Daddy", and Daddy he's been to her ever since. He's NEVER mentioned to anyone that she isn't even his child! Even when we were just dating, he claimed her as HIS daughter! Sometimes I think he actually forgets she's his step-daughter, not his "real" daughter. And really the same can be said for my dh's Dad & Step-Mom, Mother & Step-father and one set of his Grandparents. They have treated her as if she truly was my dh's daughter since the first day they met her and they brag about her as their Granddaughter/Great-Granddaughter, never once mentioning she is my child from another marriage, not my husband's!

There are many things I could write here, but today the thing that's making me go "Wow" is this board. I've never been so happy to be part of DoD as I am today.
