Great Kids Education Site needs support

This is a great learning site for children. It is very useful for homework, projects, ect.

Since 1996, I've enjoyed writing and putting my website, Enchanted Learning,
online (as you might have guessed, this is a two-person operation: I write content
and my husband edits and does the heavy-duty programming). During the first few
years, our bandwidth expenses (bandwidth is what it costs me to deliver the web
pages to you) were minimal; since our traffic was low, the ads on the site paid for
most of it.

Since last March, ad rates have plummeted, and the ads now pay for only a small
fraction of our bandwidth. At the same time, the number of users to our site has
grown tremendously.

Our bills for bandwidth are also growing. I can no longer afford to subsidize this site
(I should say that my husband's salary as a college professor can no longer support
the site). Although I would like to keep it online as it was, I simply cannot afford to
do so.

At the moment, I feel a bit like a street musician passing the hat after a
performance (instead of charging before the performance). If you've enjoyed our
work or found it useful, please support it.

So far, only a minuscule percentage of our users (a tiny fraction of one percent)
have supported our site. This is extremely disheartening. We've been asking
ourselves, "Is this the value that most visitors place on our work?" Is this the value
that you place on our work?

I have two choices (actually, I don't have the choice, it's up to you):

1.Have users pay for their site usage on an honor system, the way it is now.
2.Charge users for membership.

It's up to you. Whatever you decide, I hope you've enjoyed our site. We will
definitely keep the site online for our supporters (but we may have to cut off access
for non-supporters at some point).

If you support our site now, and we later have to convert to a members-only site,
you'll automatically become a member. I certainly hope that you have found my
site to be of value and think it's worth supporting - if you do, please pay for what
you've used so that it can remain online.

Whoa............. My first thing to ask are you the owner of this site? Or just a user? I know tons and I mean tons of people who use it.
I read the whole thing if you are the owner can you tell me a little more on what is up with it?

Charging for that site will bring it down This is just schocking to me that the users are not helping

I will be willing to put a mass email out to the users I know but more info please.

No, I'm not an owner. Just a Mom who has used the site. It is a very nice site, so when I read that they were having problems, I wanted to get the word out. It would be a shame if they had to start charging for the site. It would be terrible if eveyone one didn't have access. Maybe those that could afford it, would help out. As for me, I just trying to do my part.
