| Loca, I soooooo know what you mean!!!!!! I had the same thing happen to me at Penney's when I bought a sale item, used one of their bonus sale coupons, and had opened a new charge account that day, meaning I was to get an additional 10% discount. The associate tried to tell me that she couldn't give me the 10% new charge discount on the sale items. I told her she could. She got upset, called someone, who told her that yes, I was to get the discount. HA!! She was NOT nice after that. I had my oldest daughter with me, who used to work at Elder-Beerman (department store), and I just looked at her, and said, "PLease tell me you never treated a customer like that." She assured me she hadn't. Man, you'd think they had to take the discount out of their own paycheck. ![]()

| Lina, that's happened to me before. Oh I know the feeling of being behind the person waiting for the coupon to work. It would annoy the **** out of me. Hey, I wasn't a coupon user back then, what did I know? It hasn't happened lately, but if it were to, I'd be patient. "Man, you'd think they had to take the discount out of their own paycheck." I agree, Pip. Are they upset because of all the work it takes to scan and/or combine a coupon? Or are they jealous that they aren't savvy shoppers? ![]() Last edited by LocaChica; 03-11-2002 at 08:48 PM. |

| LOL Loca! The girls here at the supermarket are like that - although it's easy to fluster them because our local paper rarely has coupons so they freak when I bring in a stack that I've traded for online (or worse yet - the kind you print out). Now I just try to go shopping late at night when the only check out person there is this one guy who just doesnt care if the machine gets stupid - he just enters in the amount of the coupon, hits the cash in key & continues on. ![]() |

| I get the same crappy attitude at my local Walmart when an item rings up wrong.There are signs posted above each register that states: If the price we charge you is incorrect,due to a pricing error,we'll give you that item free,or take $3 off your total purchase. Pretty self-explanatory to me but,when I find an item that scans wrong,I mention their store's policy.9 times out of 10,they act like they've never heard of this! Give me a break!!! I usually just point to the sign and tell them to give me the item free,please....some of the cashiers just hate THAT! LOL Does anyone here work at Walmart?If so...are you trained to act this way on purpose concerning this particular policy? ![]()

| brieke...I USE to work at Walmart (almost 8 yrs. ago..WOW!) and to tell you honestly, I NEVER even heard of that policy, nor did ANYONE ever mention. I know there wasn't a sign either...maybe it wasn't in effect then?!?! I loved working at Walmart!! I only had one bad incident when a lady brought tears to my eyes. Of course no way did SHE see it..LOL! I NEVER EVER treated a customer like crap. Even that woman didn't hear an earful from me. To tell ya the truth, I would LOVE to be just the darn greeter!! Seriously, I was the only "young" person that would give the people greeters their breaks. They had to threaten me before I would go back to my register, service desk, layaway or department...LMBO! |

| I don't think my walmart has that policy.....but I'll be checking when I go in next time for sure! ~Joy

| I had the coupon beep before and they tried to give it back to me. I didn't say a word, I just glared at her (everybody says I have this REALLY EVIL glare) and she just asked the cashier beside her what to do. I glared because this wasn't the first problem I'd had with this cashier knowing NOTHING (bad things is she wasn't a new employee, been there for months).

![]() My niece does that! If looks could kill... I believe Walmart has the price scan policy that brieke mentioned and so does Kmart here. Walgreens will give you $5 if the cashier fails to issue a receipt. |
| ||||
| Breike...that is most certainly walmart policy, and any cashier that doesn't take care of you for that is not doing his/her job. Period. It applies only if it is scanning wrong (ex: Sauve shampoo is on sale for $.98, and it rings $1.29) It doesn't apply if the item is on the wrong place on the shelf. (I believe that is correct, but double check me on that one !!! I don't work up front, so I may not have it completely right.) If that ever happens again, leave that line, go to the service desk, and get your money ! (and a manager !!) ![]()

| Mary, Our DD works at WalMart & she said the same thing - the policy is only correct if the price rings up wrong, not if it's on the wrong place on the shelf (hey, they can't be responsible for customers moving stuff around the store). Here our cashiers are really well trained - I've never ever had anyone there mess up on the register (even before our DD started working there!). |
