Red face gray hair.. i need help:(

ok it finally happened, ive noticed im gettin a tiny lil patch on my right side of my head... real lil spot...up top above the eyebrow.. sme place most folk get it.....
now all of my hair is brown and just this lil spot has popped up...lol

guess im gettin old...

anyway.. i used to wear my hair all curled back and layered.. now if i do that some of the gray will show... so i am now wearin it off to one side-so the gray is underneath and not seen and curled differently...

now heres the question?

come summer time im gonna want to pull my long hair back into a pony tail.. but im not the kinda gal who is ok with this lil patch showing.. is there any way to lighten or just dye the one area?

ide hate to go n ruin my hair n do the whole head just for this one spot... now ive never colored my hair before... and im not in the mood to have to redo it every 2 months or so to keep up with the color... my hair grows very very fast...

so anyone else have this problem? if so what did ya do? did ya color that one area? i actually heard where someone actually put dark brown eye shadow on it to darken it up ??????? GOT ME????

and i guess im gonna have to guess n find correct coloring so it matches up

can it be done? and dont tell me to pluck em all.. it aint happening... lol

I need som help and ideas please thanks

I cant believe im writing this.... think im gonna go out n have a drink tonite...

my gray isn't in one spot, but it is noticeable on my brown hair. I am not one to fool with color or perms. My experience has been that they are too expensive, difficult to maintain, and in the long run, ruin my hair.

So, now I don't give a darn what people think about my hair. I make sure I am clean and well groomed.....to heck with anyone else's opinion.

Well, Pawpaw, I'm only 21 and I have a few white hairs (just a few, but they are noticeable if one really looks). Learn to love 'em! But I'm sure you'll be able to find something to cover them up if you want.

Paw Paw.... Two different things...would you consider streaking some blonde into the front of your hair. That's really effective in hiding a little grey.

If not, get it professionally done, so they can match it exactly. Otherwise you might come out with a whole other shade of brown in just one spot and that wouldn't be good.

Just my opinion. I love to experiment. and change haircolor often!

Good Luck!!

A couple things you could try. Hair mascara or these things called color combs. They sell both at Sally Beauty Supply. The hair mascara I've only used in colors like green and blue. I've never used the color combs, but my Mom uses them. Both of these are temporary and wash right out. They are okay if you just need to cover a little gray every so often. I think they run around $5 each.

Peg--wow, do I know how you feel. Thank goodness I'm a blond so they don't show up so bad--but gray hairs kinda go crazy(if you know what I mean). I'm still at the point where I pluck everytime I see one of those suckers--thing is I'm getting so many now, don't know what I will do. I usually get highlites a couple times a year and that seems to help some. DH begs me not to pluck them, cause I have thin, fine hair and he's afraid I will pluck myself bald(LOL).

Hee hee, I thought I was the only one plucking them out!! I don't have a bathroom mirror that adjusts though, so I might have a dozen gray ones in the back of my head! I have dark brown hair, so I notice them right away. It's not fair, I'm 28 and my Mom has less noticeable gray! She's blond, but really only started getting gray a few years ago. Nobody believes she doesn't color her hair. Her sisters, however, are not so fortunate! Guess it's all in the luck of the draw!

Brenda and scooter my day was really going wrong till I just read your replies ....I almost fell out laughing ....
Trust me brenda I laugh because I know the feelling very thin hair and try to get all the gray out to LOL

I already have a little bald spot that they say is caused by all the stress I am under so gotta do a little curl under right here by my forhead to hide it LOL

I used to just dye out my grey the few I had but now I just let it all fall out naturally as my dh and kids are driving me nuts and soon I will be able to pick any kind of wig I want to cover the bald much less the grey

I found the first grey hair when I was 12 - and it's all my dad's fault because he started going grey very young too. My mom finally started getting a few greys after her heart surgery last year.

weacross, I agree that it's not fair when your mother has less grey & less wrinkles than you do!

Peg,

I have a lot of grey too and I'm on 34. I do dye my whole head, and I understand why you don't want to do it. If your hair is that long, it might be a little difficult to get really good coverage. It works great though, so you shouldn't rule it out totally.

I had never heard of the combs either. That is too cool!!! I liked the sound of the hair mascara too. If I only knew about this stuff sooner!

Lori
