[QUOTE]Originally posted by pandybat [B]I missed a bunch of posts that were being posted while I was typing out my novel above...lol So I am just going to reply to each individually. Misha - I am not worried about who is doing the most posting or anything like that. I really don't care who has the most posts. I am talking about people messing up the boards in other forums for the people that actually go there for the information in those forums. You can tell the difference between who is posting to increase post count and those doing it with sincere posts. I am only respond to the one directed at me. I take no offense whats so ever This was a huge problem on the freebie board when I was "trying" to get things posted and also that is why when I do have the time to vist the contest/survey I also see the same problem. So other than chitchat I agree 100% it screws it up. And honestly I never care what number posts I have. My whole thing is when doing freebies and Contest/Surveys lets go fast and keep them current. I willl say the ONLY reason I posted at all in this thread was a heads up to someone and I will not get into that. They should be able to figure it out themselves. So anyone who would like to even say I care about counts does not know me very well at all.

ok, so i have the opinion of who freakin cares about who's post count..sorry, but i just do...so i have a high post count, so what...i started lurking here at dod in jan.of 2000 i didn't post until around may i think it was and do you know what the first thing i posted was? a thank you to lisa or mouse in found a freebie for a freebie that i signed up for, after 2 years of being somewhere and being as talkative as i unfortunately am my post count is a bit high....i also began to go into the introduce yourself forum to welcome ppl a long time ago when mayor asked us too, i have an interesting story on that as well, a member here who only posts in internet deals (which i hardly ever go to, i do gcc, freebies, and contests mostly) recently im'ed me because i said welcome to him in the introduce yourself forum, well come to find out, he and his wife live right around the corner from me and i went to school with his wife...so because of dod and the introduce yourself forum i found an old friend now if i didn't post there off and on i never would have found them because i just happen to not post often in the forum they frequent...now, as to the thank you's and such in the freebie forum and contest forum, sometimes i find freebies to post in the freebie forum and i like it when ppl thank me for it...i do see the point though in the um anger i guess is the word i'm looking for in bumping freebies or contests that are repeats, or bad links or whatever, so it's a minor setback but ya know what it probably only took a grand total of 3 seconds away from my day..so what, i move on....it REALLY is not that big of a deal to me...the only time i can truly say i messed up in any forum was the game forum because i was having so much fun playing i did not realize i was being inconsiderate, then thankfully dev let me know the rules and of course i felt stupid because i was being inconsiderate but i stopped and was EXTREMELY thankful that someone let me know instead of just letting me continue to look stupid (which is not a hard feat to accomplish i'm sure yall have noticed lol) but other than that when i post it is never with the intention of jacking up my post count, i just talk alot and like to help the new members so they return and we have lots more new friends.... don't get me wrong i do understand some folks' irritation on the matter, however, i feel that it's not that big of a deal and i think the only thing this thread is going to accomplish is hurting someone's feelings and not for what it was intended for...for those of us with a high post count (in my opinion anyway) i can't help but feel targeted...

EXACTLY!! As I mentioned earlier, there was a post made in the games abut padding post and childish games. If she wasn't referring to introduce youself, why was it mentioned? There has been a time when mayor had commented on no one posting in that forum. I have receivedt many emails from new people thanking me and asking questions about how to do something here. I will continue to welcome all new members unless mayor asks me not to. And as far as the games, if she feels they are childish, maybe she should not go there. Or post some she wants. If we choose to play, ok, if not, ok! One of mayors rules also is not to post anything to intimidate people . Some people ARE feeling that way. For instance...just what dianemarie has just posted. So I realy do not think Shannie's post was JUST about contests, freebies, etc! I believe she was referring to ALL OF DOD. everyone is intitled to their own opinion and this is my opinion. SORRY, if I have offended anyone. I am just stating facts that are clearly posted in this forum and the one in games. |

I think this was an absolutely wonderful discussion among the DOD family members, with some awfully valid points being raised from both sides of the issue. I can see BOTH sides of it. Hopefully, no one takes any of it as a personal assault, but instead thinks about it all and goes on their merry DOD way. I don't think anyone intended for there to be hurt feelings or guilty feelings. Just consider some things, that's all. Post counts are important to some, and not to others. That's fine! And if some frivolous posts waste a little time, I know it's annoying, but hey, as in any family, we all have our things we do to bug those we live with, but we all still love each other! I honestly am just sittin' on the fence here, not caring whether I get off or not. I think it's good and interesting to get things like this out in the open. It can't help but make DOD a better place to be, when people try to be understanding of others' feelings. GROUP HUG, NOW!!!!!!!

I really don't sweat that kind of stuff! I don't think I could ever tell someone to stop saying thanks for posting something(it just seems so weird to say Stop saying thanks). Sometimes the best sweeps are the ones everybody says "thanks" to(usually they are some nice or different prizes)that I may have missed especially now because I am not on all the time!

By saying "thank you" It tells the person who did the work of finding the post that it is appreciated and you do thank them for finding it. Also, by saying thanks, it marks the post for us so we do not do the same contest or freebie again. Most of them disqualify you for entering again if you already have. So this does help us too, by saying "thank you"...It serves two purposes for us. |

I would of never known that it wasnt me .. if i wouldnt of posted a response and had shaina pm me and now you reply to what i said ~ as i can imagine how many members are out there that have read the thread and havent replied and think that it is them that this thread is about ? does that make sense? All i am saying is there are innocent members out there who dont post firvioursly and might think that this thread is directed at them .. and that is just wrong and unfair .. i would hate to lose valuable members who i consider a friend and a great poster because of thisI thank you and everyone else who said that i post some good freebies, deals, etc ! thanks for the kind words ![]() I just would hate for this thread to turn into something ugly and have some upset and potentially some members leave over it

I have to tell you something that I do..in most of the forums really. If I am starting with a whole new page, I will work my way from the bottom up. This way I don't knock down the newer stuff. Especially in the contest forum. Also I do it in the introduce yourself forum because I know there will be a few ppl. following me in posts and this way they can just start right on the front page instead of having to search because my posts may have bumpred some new members. I do understand what Shaina was trying to say and nor do I take any offense to it. I guess I don't have anything to be defensive of. I would be more offended if someone had said some of us had too much crap in our signature lines, you just don't mess with self-expression..LOL! Kylee..I'm following your lead here..sitting all cocky on this here fence after the Steeler win!! LOL! |
