Exclamation Vegas room poll - please vote if you're going!

Yesterday, we made a group effort and called many of the hotels in Las Vegas for price quotes. However, we're still not sure where we should book hotel rooms for as there are great price differences between the hotels & where people have said they want to stay. So, in an effort to get a decent rate before they're all gone, we'd like everyone who is going to Las Vegas to please vote for the kind of hotel they would be willing to stay in.

Please vote for ONE price range & then respond with the hotel(s) in that range that you are interested in. In order to make your choices easier, links for each of the hotels along with the exact quotes follow under "Hotel Listings". Please note: NOT ALL HOTELS ARE LISTED - JUST SOME OF THE ONES WE FOUND. PLEASE JUST VOTE FOR YOUR PRICE RANGE & THEN REPLY WITH A HOTEL NAME(S) WHERE YOU'D LIKE TO STAY.

Prices are quoted for 18-22 April. Prices are in this format (unless specified) Sun-TH/Fri&Sat

Group A - under $100 night (average)
Circus Circus, Frontier, Holiday Inn Boardwalk, Sahara, Stardust, Stratosphere, Westward Ho

Group B - $101 - 125 per night (average)
Excalibur, Tropicana

Group C - $126 - 150 per night (average)
Flamingo Hilton, Harrah's, Hawthorne Suites, Mirage, Riviera

Group D - Over $150 night (average)
Bally's, Harrah's Rio All Suite Hotel, Luxor, MGM Grand, Treasure Island

Group E - not available for all nights - NO VOTES ALLOWED!
Las Vegas Hilton, Paris

Thumbs up Group A here!

the less i have to spend to get there and stay there the more i'll have for fun and such, i REALLY REALLY like the new frontier hotel, and hawthorne is pretty awesome cuz the rooms are big and can be shared so the cost is split...excalibur seems nice, but it is pricey but then again, all the hotel/casinos in vegas just shocked me, i really thought it was gonna be cheaper since Vegas is hurting for tourists and i was always under the assumption room rates were low cuz they made it all back in gambling and such, but anyway yeah, that's my 2 cents

About the rooms being less if you gamble.......apparently there are vouchers of a sort....and your room is less depending on how long you are gambling, not how much you spend on it.

Anyone else know how that works?

I am willing to pay a little more for a nicer room, because I'm telling you......cleanliness is really important to me. I don't need a big room, or a fancy room, though that is nice, too. And I keep thinking.......I may never get to Vegas ever again, and I want to stay in a semi-nice room. That's part of the experience of being there, too.

I'm just still so confused............

Its part of the comp system...You can earn free meals, free rooms, reduced rooms, etc...but a warning (i haven't been to vegas much) but you'll have to gamble quite a bit and for a long time to get reduced rooms/free rooms.

My guess is at $100 average bet for about 6 hours would get a free room at one of the mid casinos. So for reduced rate it'll be a little less. In Reno at Harrahs I believe it was $60 average bet for 6 hours for free room.

Room tax is 9%...

And vouchers based upon gambling are not guaranteed free rooms. Yes, they are generally based upon the time that you spend playing at their casino, however you can't just play on the nickle slots or at the dollar tables. Generally, they are meant for those who have 6+ hours a day to spend gambling on the larger slots & tables (I think Ceasar's Palace is for the $25+ tables and/or the $5+ slots and others are similar). Seeing how the house has the odds in their favor, the people who get enough "points" in these clubs have lost at least the cost of their rooms.

I too want a clean room no matter where I go - no way would I stay in a dirty place! And, although I can stay at my aunt & uncle's, I would like to be able to hang out & stay in the hotel with you guys too!

Also - just a reminder - if you find a hotel in the same range, vote for the range & then tell us about the hotel in your reply! I know there are a LOT of choices, but let's try to narrow it down by price first.

I'm following the flock...lol I want to stay cheap so I will have more money for other things. As long as I am not sleeping in a cardboard box and there is running water, I'm fine with anything.

Great job guys on all the information. I can't believe how fast this is all coming together!

Gonna go look at some of the hotel websites.

If y'all decide on Group A, let me give you a tip.

[quote]Group A - under $100 night (average)
Circus Circus, Frontier, Holiday Inn Boardwalk, Sahara, Stardust, Stratosphere, Westward Ho [/quote}

Circus Circus, Frontier, Sahara and Westward Ho are DIVES. Trust me. Been there. Done that.

Stratosphere is WAY at the end of the strip. The OTHER end. Don't want to stay there.

The Stardust is nice, but also a little further away.

Holiday Inn is closest to the action and is my recommendation.

I've been there a bunch of times, so take it for what it's worth.

Mayor

I just went and looked at the Holiday Inn Boardwalk site and it looks fine with me if it's fine with everyone else. Pretty much located in the middle of some good action and has nice looking rooms.

I know Kris and Bill had some problems with Holiday Inn but I don't think they are gonna ignore a bunch of ticked off DODer's if service isn't up to par and we wanna make an issue of it. We will not be ignored! LOL

Anyone else have any experience at any of the other places in Group A?

The Holiday Inn Boardwalk looks fine to me! I plugged in some dates for 4 people in a room, for 3 nights (April 18-21), and got this:
____________________________________________
Room Rates:

Value* $397.82
Deluxe* $430.52
Deluxe w/Strip View* $463.22
___________
*Tier levels represent location of rooms within hotel
**Total prices include a 9% room tax.

Cancellation Requirements: 2 Days
Size Bed: 2 Doubles
____________________________________________

If two people share a room, with 2 double beds, the rates are:

$299.72 / $332.42 / $365.12
____________________________________________

If you divide the 4-person room up, it is $33.15 / $35.88 / $38.60 a night for each person.
The 2-person room is $49.95 / $55.40 / $60.85 a night for each person.

Looks good to me, whichever way we go!

Those are just online prices, right Pip? We could probably get better rates if we call them and set it up.

Yes, those are online. I just did that to give us an idea....

I would guess that we could get a better rate by calling the hotel directly.

Cool, that's what I was hoping. See? Now if the prices are that good online, then we surely can get better by calling them directly. I think I will give them a call on Monday and see what kinda deal I can get. I'll let you all know.
