| NEED HELP! International Money Orders?
I have a problem I was hoping someone here could help me. I am purchasing an item from the UK.. the person doesn't take (and I haven't been able to convince them) paypal or bidpay. Personal checks are out due to clearance time. She told she doesn't usually deal with ppl in the US, but when she has they have paid with international money orders. Now, I'm a little rural here, and I have checked with every bank in the area. They don't have them. I checked with the Post Office, and they kinda have them. I need to pay $8.50 to fill out an application for one.. and they send that application to some "I" state, can't remember which, and the money order is then issued. Hmmm.. clerk had no idea on a time frame. So.. that's out! Does ANYONE know where/how I can get an international money order.. or some way of paying in pounds sterling in the UK? The seller mentioned a bankers draft in pounds sterling.. once again, my banks didn't have a clue! (Boy.. I sure miss NY). The buyer is being great and patient.. but I'd like to complete this transaction asap. TIA for any help on this... Auti

After searching a little I found WU (Bid-pay) has international money orders... So I looked to see if there was info about the fees the seller was talking about.. I found this: Q. Can buyers use BidPay.com to send payments to me if I am a seller based outside of North America? A. You need to make sure that you can accept a Western Union branded money order and that you will be able to cash it. Western Union branded money orders can be cashed globally, but there may be delays and fees associated with converting U.S. dollars to your local currency. Please note: Western Union Agent Locations are not obligated to cash money orders. Sellers should check with their local bank to find out the availability of and fees associated with cashing a US$ money order. Apparently UK does have fees and a waiting period for these.. it's almost the same info I found out about american express checks too.. and they can take a while to clear.. almost like a check, if you were not the purchasor. ......sigh.. back to square one.
