| LAS VEGAS HOTEL DEAL CHALLENGE!! Can you outdo this deal? Post your finds here! As far as airline flights to Vegas go, I don't think there is any kind of deal we could find that would suit everyone since it's going to depend upon where you are coming to Vegas from. So I guess we are on our own with that deal. But if anyone knows of the best place to get airline tickets, please let me know. I still haven't decided whether to fly or drive to Vegas yet. Best deal I could come up for a hotel for all of us to meet and stay is this: Some of you might find a cheap hotel pretty cheesy but if it's got a clean, comfy bed and clean, running water, I'll sleep anywhere.....LOL This one looks pretty nice though. I think the rates are so cheap because it's 5 blocks from the Strip. Las Vegas Club Hotel & Casino - South Tower (approx corner of Fremont & Main - 5 blocks from the Strip 'aka' Las Vegas Blvd) 18 E. Fremont St. Las Vegas, NV 89101 (702) 385-1664 (800) 634-6532 (877) 621-ROOM (There is also a part of this hotel called the North Tower and it is $10 more a night. I don't know what you get for the extra $10 a night though.) Approx 20 minutes from McCann International Airport (airport code - LAS) 5757 Wayne Newton Blvd. Las Vegas NV 89101 [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] (Really cool looking hotel!) Call 1-800-634-6532 for group rates of 10 or more room reservations. (I would call on this deal but I don't know how I could arrange to set this up unless I knew for sure there would be at least 10 rooms being reserved.) *These rates are for checking in on a Friday and staying at least two nights. They require the Friday check-in. Can't check in on a Saturday.* Weekend of: April 6th - $49.00 a night ($69.00 4 ppl to a room) (check in Fri, Apr 5th) April 13th - $54.00 a night ($74.00 4 ppl to a room) (check in Fri, Apr 12th) April 20th - $49.00 a night ($69.00 4 ppl to a room) (check in Fri, Apr 19th) April 27th - $54.00 a night ($74.00 4 ppl to a room) (check in Fri, Apr 26th) Batter Up! The Las Vegas Club Hotel and Casino offers a charming and whimsical tribute to America's national pastime. Card dealers wear old-school baseball jerseys emblazoned with the hotel's name, the sports book and casino on the north side of the property stirs remembrances of Wrigley Field and the restaurants and bars honor stars of the sport. The rooms are clean, comfortable and reasonably priced, with eight luxury suites going the extra yard. A number of restaurants, including the Zagat award-winning Great Moments Room and Lounge, serve a wide field of tastes. The 40,000 square-foot casino offers a full roster of gaming diversions. All in all, the Las Vegas Club keeps its bases covered. FEATURES: Number of rooms: 410. Average room rates: $33.50-$49.95. Room rates can fluctuate widely and change without notice. Casino: Yes, 40,000 sq. ft. Casino games include Keno, Double Deck Blackjack, Multi-Deck Blackjack, Royal Match 21, Caribbean Stud, Let-It-Ride, Craps, Roulette, and over 1,000 slot, video poker, and keno machines. Race & sports book: Yes. Restaurants: One gourmet restaurant - the Great Moments Room, two casual restaurants - the 24 hour sports-themed Upper Deck, and the World Famous Dugout. Attractions: Located off the Fremont Street Experience. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] (OH MAN! YOU GOTTA CHECK THIS OUT! I hope this is running when we are down there if we stay at this hotel. It doesn't give any dates.) Entertainment: No. Pool: No. (Bummer! Not that I want anyone to see me in a bathing suit anyway...lol) Health Club: No. Spa: No. Shops: One gift and sundry shop. Wedding Chapel: No. Parking Garage: Yes. Convention rooms: Yes. Business Center: Yes, a 3,600 sq. ft. meeting/banquet area and a pre-function area are located on the 3rd floor. In-room computer data port: Yes, front desk must be notified and a charge will be applied for internet use. (This would be cool! We could hook up and set up a chat with others from DOD while we were there. Anyone have a laptop? LOL) Wheelchair accessible rooms: Yes. RV park: No. Children allowed in hotel: Yes, with parental supervision. No one under the age of 21 is allowed in Las Vegas casinos. Child care facilities: No. Pets allowed: No. Room service: Yes. Shuttle Service: No. Amenities: 3,600 sq. ft. banquet and meeting facilities. **Pandys Pros: This place sounds like it offers everything we could want to do. It has cheap but nice rooms, restaurants, casinos, a small gift shop and a meeting place if we needed it. My whole objective to this trip is to meet everyone, hang out and maybe play a few slots. I don't have any desire to see a show while I am there. But if we did want to go to the strip, we could either walk there or hail a cab there. But I hope to spend most of my time hanging out with everyone and eating...LOL **Pandys Cons: No pool, no shuttle service to the strip and no daycare facilities (I am not bringing my child but someone else asked about daycare facilities and this place has none.) Can you beat this deal? I hope so!

| Lots of people who have tons of money stay off the strip. Walking is part of being in LV. When I was there we walked the strip 2 times a day. Great sites, lots to do... and wonderful exercise. Downtown LV isn't seedy... and if you're only 5 blocks from the strip that isn't a bad walk. Pandy... did you check on Harrah's on the strip. They have very reasonable rates I think and is a popular place. Not too too glitzy. Food on the strip is going to be cheaper than off - I think? It's really a matter of picking a place. A very dear friend of mine who had more money than anyone should legally have always stayed downtown. I'm not trying to sway the opinion. I'm sort of on the fence here and still haven't figured out if it's a definite go for me. Lots of things to consider. Has the date been picked?

| Hey Toby Lee! I did not mean to imply that poor people stay off the strip and rich people stay on the strip. I am sure there is a mix of both. What I mean is that I would rather pay more to be on the strip. I think it is just a fun place to be!

lol I know that. I agree about being on the strip - more action - close to wasshappenin'! lol I've only been there once, and stayed over a week. Walking the strip seemed like more fun than anything else to me! We saw a few shows... ate very well. We stayed at Harrah's. ![]()

| Alrighty then..this is what I am talking about...lol INPUT INPUT! Welp, first off, I don't think this place is as downtown far enough to be in the seedy part. It's only 5 blocks from the strip. Actually it's less than 5 blocks and still close enough that we could walk to the strip if we wanted. Besides, who's gonna mess with a group of 20+ people like US. I'd like to see them try....LOL I agree the strip is quite the happening place and I would love to stay right on the strip but I am trying to go for less expensive place to stay here so we have more money for the funner stuff. I really don't care where I sleep as long as I can still get to all the action when I am not sleeping...LOL This hotel is pretty much right in the middle of its own nightly festival called the Fremont Street Experience, which looks pretty dang awesome! And it also has it's own casinos and restaurants. So it's not really lacking in things to do if you prefer not to go to the strip. I will do a check on Harrahs and post their rates and availability for April. I think I will also check out the Stratosphere and see what their rates are. IMHO, most of the places right on the strip are way too expensive to stay at when we could just as easily stay at a cheaper place, save some money and still be able to see the sites on the strip. If anyone wants to help do some searches on hotels and rates and availability, it sure would help. I'm not very familiar with all the hotels and places in LV enough to know which is a good place or bad place. All I am looking at here is expense per night per person. But if someone finds something worth paying the extra for, post it and let's weigh our options. |

| Stratosphere Casino Hotel & Tower [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] "Live It Up For Less at The All New Stratosphere Rooms from $26.95 " Rates per night. Weekend rates slightly higher. (I'd say!! $26.95 for a room through the week but an average of over $100 a room on the weekends! YIKES!) $104.95 per night for 2 people ($20 more per room per night for 4 ppl to a room) Call 1-800-99-TOWER for more information. Centrally located, the Stratosphere Casino, Hotel and Tower is at the top of the Las Vegas Strip and the closest Strip property to Downtown Las Vegas and the Fremont Street Experience. The Stratosphere is just 1.3 miles from the Las Vegas Convention Center. Although this place looks mighty awesome too, we can spend this much and stay for two nights at the Las Vegas Club Hotel & Casino. It sounds like I am pushing this Las Vegas Club Hotel thingy but really I'm not. Just looking for the best deal for the money. ********************************* Harrahs Hotel & Casino [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] They don't have any rooms available the first weekend in April. The second weekend, the rooms are all $150 a night and up. No rooms available the third weekend in April. $150 a night and up on the fourth weekend. I think that one is a no-go, eh? ********************************** Where else should I check? |

I tried them the other night and it asks you to name your price and input your info including a credit card and if your price is accepted, they automatically buy your tickets for you and charge your credit card. I don't like that. Buying something like that, I would click as many buttons to get through the checkout process as needed if I had to. I wanna see what's going on when I make a purchase. Not have it done automatically for me...LOL But that's just me. Others may like it but it scares me a little. Ok...back to the hotels....heehee Do we need to find a place that offers shuttle service? Taking a cab or walking is out of the question? What does everyone prefer? Staying in a slightly higher hotel right on the strip or staying in a cheaper hotel slightly off the strip but within walking or taxi distance of the strip? The Las Vegas Club Hotel doesn't offer shuttle service but they are only 5 blocks from the strip. We could probably walk up a block or two and catch the shuttle service at another hotel or casino instead if everyone wanted to go that route. Just a suggestion... Maybe we should all stay whereever we want to stay and say we all meet at a certain place at a certain time? That's another option. (But then that would ruin Kims plans of slumber-partying it with all of us in her room and yakking all night...LOL) Personally, I would rather stay at a cheaper hotel and walk/taxi to the strip, therefore saving money for other things, than to pay more money for a hotel that's right on the strip. I will be going to the strip anyway no matter where I stay. And we've got that whole 'Fremont Street Experience' deal to walk through to get to the strip so it wouldn't be that bad of a walk. But then again, I am not the only one going. I'm siding with the majority....lol What say you all? |
| ||||
| oh once we're on the strip i don't mind if there is shuttle service or not, i can hoof it LOL, i'm worried about shuttle from the airport to hotel and then back to the airport...once i get to the hotel i'll be fine if it's right on the strip, gettin back and forth to the airport worries me lol!! yeah, i would kinda like to all stay at the same hotel, that would be cool since i'm coming by myself and want lots of people i know around me...and slumber-partying sounds like a blast!!! i'll start looking around for hotels too, if ya need me to you are doing great so far pandy, hope i can help find some deals!!oh and i'm all for CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP so if we have to stay a bit off the strip but are still close enough to walk and it's a good price i say we grab it ![]()

| Ya know....after I just posted, I got to thinking.......maybe I am just a redneck backwoods kinda girl and in my thinking, $100 or more a night in a hotel seems incredibly high because we don't pay that much for rooms around here. The most we've ever spent on a hotel room was $250 a night and that was in a honeymoon suite in Colorado. Needless to say, we only spent the one night...LOL It was well worth it too! LMBO But I don't think we have ever paid for a hotel room that was over $70 a night and I thought even $70 was high. Maybe that's why I think that $100 a night is a little steep for a place to sleep. But then again, I don't get out-of-state that often. It may seem high for some of you guys. Is that about normal in your area? ![]() |
| ||||
| ok, pandy thank goodness, i was thinking maybe cuz it was vegas it was expensive, or because it was close to the west coast and i heard things are more expensive on the west coast..but no $100 a night is VERY pricey to me, the most we've EVER spent on a hotel room for one night was $34.95 LOL!! *WHEW* ok, good, let's aim for cheaper do you think we could find it? anyone near or around vegas that knows what the going rate is for a night?

Good point, Steph! Reason I didn't think of that was because the last time I was in LV, we took a cab instead of shuttle service. Well, what do we do now? Everyone take taxis if shuttle is not available or find a place with shuttle service to and from the airport? If I remember right, there were tons of taxis and shuttle buses waiting at the airport, so catching one or the other should be no problem at all for anyone. First place we went was the MGM Grand and we took a taxi because we didn't even know there was shuttle service to the MGM. As soon as we walked outside, we were mobbed by taxi drivers in our faces asking us where we wanted to go. I didn't even see the shuttle buses...LOL We got there much sooner than any of the shuttle buses did anyways...LOL |
