I just gotta say.....

I cannot stand telemarketers...especially during dinner! We just got a call about a half hour ago....dinnertime of course from an Anna asking for my dh. I thought it was the same person from an earlier call today in regard to the new house so I stayed on the line. He got on and she started in about filling out a form at the mall for a $30,000 jeep or truck. Well, dh fills out NOTHING. And at the mall (which I haven't been for months and months) I would have my 2 little ones with me so I would not be able to stop and fill anything out if that was my MO anyway. So, he denied filling anything out and she said "maybe your wife did, what's her name?" I butted in before she got any more info she did not need and said "nope, haven't been to the mall to fill anything out." She said we can take a look at the form when we come down.....to which I responded we wouldn't as we don't do those things and did not fill out a form at any mall. She immediately changed her tone, asked me if I was calling her a liar. I told her we don't waste our time on these types of things and she yelled back to stop wasting her time by filling out her tickets and called me a B----. I asked her to please get me her supervisor and she proceded to call me....oh, you name it and then hung up.

I would think dh or I would know if we filled something out at the mall.....where we haven't been in quite some time because we're too busy with the new house and internet shopping!

Best thing to do with telemarketers is to tell them you are busy and ask them for their home phone number so you can call them back. Naturally they will say that they cant give you their home phone number so you say "Well if I can't call you at home then you can't call me at home!"

I am teaching both boys to answer the phone ... lol .. they are doing a great job ~ especially my youngest ~ as soon as he picks up the phone, i take it from him, and hear a portion of what they say..if its a telemarketer..i put A very back on the phone.....oh he has a super time chatting with these people, about how the cat scratched him, and what he ate for lunch, and how many times he was in "time out" with the babysitter !!! lmbo .. before you know it .. they hang up !!! HOW RUDE

Same thing at work, although i hardly EVER have to answer the phone, it seems like when i do .. its a sales call ...YUCK ... and they think they can get through to talk to Ted? NOT !!! hehe..me and Sue (bosses wife), have a field day with these people ... I wouldnt take it personnally .. but when they hang up on me the first time, and call back again, expecting someone else to pick and in hopes they get through Ted ~ that doesnt make me a very happy camper ~ I have been called a name a couple of times ~ and not very nice ones either

I hear ya both! I'll have to try putting my chatty 2 year old next time. LOL!! Or how about asking them to hold a moment and just leaving them on terminal hold?

What gets me is that they call me at my home during dinner...what gives them the right to talk to me that way, insist that I filled at their form at a specific place when I certainly know that I did not and to proceed with vulgarities! Talk about lack of professionalism!

My DH hates telemarketers. He bought this neat little box from Staples: You push a button when you realize it is a telemarker and it politely tells the person that you do not accept these type of calls and please take us off your list (or something like that.) You just push the button and hang up! It is a great little invention and I think it only costs like $8 or something like that! DH loves to get telemarketing calls now just so he can use it! LOL!

do you know if those little devices work with credit card companies? we get 2 or 3 calls a day wanting us to get a cc. I am so sick of them. Some times, I pretend to go along then when they get to nitty gritty, I just hang up. Sometimes I just lay the phone down and let them ramble.

I used to have this happen at work when I wouldn't send the sales calls thru. They'd call me a bad name and I'd reply "So we've met?"

If they're the type of person that will call you names, I wouldn't trust them to be on the phone with your child. Your child may come away with a few new words of their own.

Best policy is to always be polite and remember that these people are trying to make a living. If you're polite to them, they'll usually be polite right back. If not, just say 'Thanks but I'm not interested' and hang up.

If you do things that are rude back to them, that doesn't make you much better than them. Of course, that's just my honest opinion.

I sureley did not deserve the abusive name calling from the telemarketer.....that girl obviously needs to find a new line of work. And besides, I was not rude other than to simply interrupt to tell here we didn't fill anything out and wouldn't be coming down to see the form because we don't do those things (timeshares, etc.), this way, we don't waste any more of either of our time.

As for our dd coming away from the phone with new words.....my 4 yr old, maybe, but I wouldn't be too concerned about the younger one at this point. I really think they would hang up than to spat vulgarities at a child anyway, but you're right, you never know.....
