Thumbs up Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)?

I don't like country music, and I'm not an Alan Jackson fan, but I just heard his new song for the first time today, and the words are wonderful:

Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)?

Where were you when the world stop turning on that September day
Were you in the yard with your wife and children
Or working on some stage in L.A.
Did you stand there in shock at the sight of that black smoke
Rising against that blue sky
Did you shout out in anger, in fear for your neighbor
Or did you just sit down and cry

Did you weep for the children who lost their dear loved ones
And pray for the ones who don't know
Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble
And sob for the ones left below
Did you burst out in pride for the red, white and blue
And the heroes who died just doin' what they do
Did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer
And look at yourself and what really matters

Chorus:
I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I could
Tell you the difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith, hope and love are some good things He gave us
And the greatest is love

Verse:
Where were you when the world stop turning on that September day
Teaching a class full of innocent children
Or driving down some cold interstate
Did you feel guilty 'cause you're a survivor
In a crowded room did you feel alone
Did you call up your mother and tell her you loved her
Did you dust off that Bible at home

Did you open your eyes, hope it never happened
And you close your eyes and not go to sleep
Did you notice the sunset the first time in ages
Or speak to some stranger on the street
Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow
Go out and buy you a gun
Did you turn off that violent old movie you're watchin'
And turn on "I Love Lucy" reruns

Did you go to a church and hold hands with some strangers
Stand in line and give your own blood
Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family
Thank God you had somebody to love

Chorus:
I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I could
Tell you the difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith, hope and love are some good things He gave us
And the greatest is love...

Another good one!!

THERE WILL COME A DAY (Bill Luther/Aimee Mayo/Chris Lindsey) on Faith Hill's album Breathe:

Faith's thoughts on this cut of the album: "Musically a dance record with a strong spiritual message. I love the message-strong, direct and powerful, a really great combination. I hope that with each passing moment and each passing day that people will choose to make a difference in someone's life or in the world."

Lyrics:

It's not easy
Trying to understand
How the world can be so cold
Stealing the souls of man
Cloudy skies rain down
On all your dreams
You wrestle with the fear and doubt
Sometimes it's hard, but you gotta believe

There's a better place
Where our Father waits
And every tear
He'll wipe away
The darkness will be gone
The weak shall be strong
Hold on to your faith
There will come a day
There will come a day

Wars are raging
Lives are scattered
Innocence is lost
And hopes are shattered
The old are forgotten
The children are forsaken
In this world we're living in
Isn't anything sacred

There's a better place
Where our Father waits
And every tear
He'll wipe away
The darkness will be gone
The weak shall be strong
Hold on to your faith
There will come a day
There will come a day

Song will ring out
Down those golden streets
The voices of earth
The angels will sing
Every knee will bow
Sin will have no trace
In the glory of His amazing grace
Every knee will bow
Sin will have no trace
In the glory of His amazing grace
There will come a day
There will come a day
Oh, there will come a day
There will come a day
I know there's coming a day
Coming a day

I love country, And applaud Alan Jackson on an awesome song... I was at the CA border at the fruit check stand when the Guard told us a plane had hit the world trade center... I did'nt know it was in NY, much less that there was 2 towers... When I was breaking out My Drivers License, he ran to his little cubicle and said another one hit the other tower... Until that point I thought it was just accidental... Then we had to drive 200 miles without a radio... Then I called my Unit cause I thought We were going... I called my mom in WA and she said there were fighter jets rippin through the sky...

Or this famous country song by the immortal Stompin' Tom Connors, (complete with guitar chords). This song gets my feet a tappin just thinking about it

The Man in the Moon is a Newfie
Stompin' Tom Connors Chorus:
[D]You might think it's [G]goofy
But the [A7]man in the moon is a [D]Newfie
And he's sailing on to [G]glory, a[A7]way in the golden [D]dory
He's sailing on to [G]glory, a[A7]way in the golden [D]dory Codfish Dan, from Newfoundland
He [A]dreamt that he had three [D]wishes
And he took Mars and all the stars
And [A]turned them into big [D]fishes
He said the sky was much too dry
And he [A]made a wavy [D]motion
And the moon like a boat began to float
Up[A]on the starry [D]ocean Chrorus One night he strayed to the Milky Way
To [A]cast his nets up[D]on it
He spied the tail of a great big whale
And he [A]harpooned Halley's [D]Comet
He never had a pot for the fish that he caught
So he [A]had to use the Big [D]Dipper
And the sun, by jove, was a very good stove
For [A]cooking up smelts and [D]kippers Chorus Now, the Northern Light that seem so bright
Like [A]nothing could be [D]grander
Well, they're just waves of the moon-boat made
By the [A]Newfoundland com[D]mander
And don't you sigh and say, "Oh, my
What [A]gross exagger[D]ation!"
'Cause he'll tell you the dream was true
When [A]Codfish Dan a[D]wakens. Chorus
