Well, I have been fighting what I thought was just a cold turned into a sinus/ear infection for about two weeks now. Had been on antibiotics for 5 days. It had really gotten to me this past weekend (really bad headache and sinus preasure), so the Dr. called in some Sudal (a prescription decongestant) and said if I didn't feel any better by today, then to come in. Well yesterday this crap was kicking my butt, so today I went in and guess what I have?

A newly found strain of the common cold call "AB Virus" that DOESN't respond to antibiotics! You have to feel like crap and let it run it's course! It has gone into my ears, lungs, sinus and eyes! I look like I have "pink eye", I am constantly coughing (yes, so bad and hard I actually peed on myself... NO LAUGHING! ) and I have so much crap inmy head that I am having to blow my nose everytime I turn around!

The only course of treatment is the heavy duty decongestant, allergy eye drops and prescription Tussin-X, so you don't cough at night. The Dr. said that usually within 5 days after you start on the decongestant, you feel a lot better.

SO, if you feel this way and your symptoms don't respond to antibiotics, odds are you may have this new and wonderful strain of the cold! Oh the joy!

Although I do think this s kind of interesting, I've never had any "bugs" that had newly been discovered! LOL!

Seriously folks...I sure hope you feel better soon...I know, I already had my cold of the decade a couple of months ago...I hurt EVERYWHERE and it took me a couple of weeks to get over it.

Stay warm, get lots of rest, and eat that chicken soup (or turkey, that would be a good Thanksgiving meal for you, oh stop, Cindy).

I'm battling sinus junk, too. Although, I've always thought mine were allergies. I get it every time the weather majorly changes. Mine starts with a slightly sore, itchy throat and a feeling of pressure in my sinuses. The next day (usually) I wake up with blisters/ulcers in my throat, SORE throat, congested (not just nasal, but all the way thru my sinus cavities) and having a feeling of pressure in my ears. I HATE this junk!! I'm having Thanksgiving at my house for the first time and now I end up with THIS. lol! *sigh*

I'd really love to go to the ENT and find out what this is, but we just can't afford it right now. Plus, I just don't have TIME with Thanksgiving 2 days away. It'll probably be going away/gone by the time the holidays are over.

UGH...I hate this time of year..w/ the weather we have been having you never know if it's your allergies acting up or an actual bug.
So sorry you feel like doody and peed yourself..you didn't actually think your pal Paula would let that slide now did ya? LOL! If I didn't Sushi would have surely ran with it. Like anyone here can deny it ever happening to them..LOL!

I think it is in the air!! I still feel like crap and I sneeze all the time and yep...till I peed myself on day too.. my eyes are wattery and itchy, by whole body hurts and dh won't give me a back rub.

He said I always catch everything and to stay away, he don't want it.

I hope you feel better soon. I think my 10 year old has the same thing - he's been feeling bad off & on for the past week now and the doctor keeps saying it's just a combination of his allergies and a cold.

I'm naturally (as of the last 7 years) anti-bio resistant. They create a superinfection. I have to self medicate. It will run it's course, I promise. Feel better. Best thing - Generic Robitussin DM, lots of water, rest, light diet. Of course, I eat like a crazy person when I'm sick w/flu or cold. Cough up what you can and blow thy nose as much as you can. Rest. Change your toothbrush after you heal. Stay away from me.

I almost didn't do T-giving with my friends who invited me. She's dying of the cold you probably have. When I found out we're eating out at a restaurant I said okey dokey - I'll be there.

I stay away from anyone who is sick. I can't take anything and am have weakened immune system from the ant--bio problem. I wash my hands when coming in from the outdoor public arena.

I take echinechea all the time even in summer. (if it's w/o GoldenSeal you can do that) a multiple, one c, and ginseng. It seems to work. I have learned that it does help.

OH - go to walgreens and get the bottle of ZINC. It helps even if you have the cold. Not the packages of cough drop zinc - too expensive. You can buy a bottle of 60 for under 6 dollars. It's tabs you eat. Anyway, feel better. I sympathize. BTDT.

I'm feelig a bit better today. Worse thing is I am stuck in my glasses and I can't see S*** with them on and I have to drive to the airport tonight to pick DH up from Canada. I may have to endure the scratch pain with the contacts long enough to go get him. I am doing the Echinacia (sp?), Zinc and C along with the Sudal and Tussin-X and I do feel as if I am "draining" rather wel! LOL! Any way, I hope everyone that is feeling crappy gets better soon! Just a quick 2 cents for those who have colds/sinus infections that don't seem to go away...

...amazingly enough sometimes it is a candida overgrowth within you that triggers sinus/cold/allergy troubles...I am just starting to read up on this stuff and it's rather fascinating! (and taking antibiotics can make the problems worse, since it encourages yeast growth...)
