Mouse, PHReD and Pip's Most Excellent Bowling Adventure





Word on the street is that Mouse was picking on Kenny all day and using 'being nervous' as her excuse. Kenny didn't buy it, and neither do we. Though the giggle might very well be a symptom, among OTHER THINGS. (You know, dontcha Mousie?)

Southland Lanes in Marion, Ohio (VERY near the Harding Memorial), was the scene for six very sweet, very cool, very all-nice-things people to get together for the very first time outside the DOD chatroom. Pip and her DH, Romie, were the first to arrive, with Mouse and her DH, Kenny, arriving a short time later. Pip and Mouse recognized each other right away and ran into each others arms and hugged away, amid fits of laughter. Why.....it was just like in the movies! Tell ya what, Mouse looks EXACTLY like her pics! Pip looks MUCH better in person than in her pics. (Doesn't she???????) DOESN'T SHE????????

As luck would have it, two lanes had broken down , so the lane reservations were pushed back by about 20 minutes, but we used that time to gossip about other DOD members. Oh my, the things we know about you people!! We got all our chatting and snickering about PHReD done first, so that we wouldn't have to worry about him walking in on us and hearing anything.

Okay............time to roll!! I mean, BOWL!!

First crisis of the evening: Kenny's bowling shoes. He would NOT put them on. He begged and pleaded with the management to find him some different shoes, but it was a busy night, and none could be found. I thought that man was gonna break down and cry right there in the middle of the bowling alley.

Now, Mouse is an outright liar. You wouldn't guess it, but she IS!!! First of all, she is worried that her butt looks too big. Then she worries that her jeans are up her crack. Then she says she sucks at bowling. ALL LIES.

Look at her, trying to be all nonchalant about that strike..........


That girl kicked our sorry butts. Well, maybe not Romie's or Cindy's. (We are thinking of leaving those spouses at home next time. We like to WIN.) Pip decided that her BOWLING SHIRT was a jinx, so she took it off for the second game. She's already feeling rather dejected after getting reprimanded ~ over the loudspeaker, no less ~ for taking a flash picture during league play. OOPS!!

Now, if we weren't having enough fun already, our 'neighbors' decided they wanted to get to know us a little bit better and complimented us on our STRIKE. (Notice there is no 's' on the end of that.) We, however, could not compliment them on their bowling manners. They especially liked to bowl in unison with us. That was the reason that SOME OF US didn't do so well. It was mighty distracting, wasn't it, PHReD?????

Shortly after we started our second game, they turned out the regular lights, and put on the black lights. We know that either Mouse told them to do this so that we couldn't look at her butt, or else Pip told them so that she could show off her white BOWLING SHIRT. (It was put back on again, after doing even worse with it off.)

"The Bowl-A-Rama's in Mansfield, isn't it?"


Our neighbors are now playing basketball with the bowling balls.............

We begin the third and final game, and Kenny is complaining, as he has all night, about a sore thumb. Mouse gets five spares in a row, numerous strikes and is still trying to convince us that she sucks at bowling. We still don't believe her. Pip is finally beating SOMEBODY, and Romie and Cindy are getting ready to go pro.

Sadly, this fun evening had to come to a close. Pip and Romie had a 2-hour drive home, and the newlyweds couldn't wait to get to bed. Kenny was dying to get his shoes off and Mouse was still lying about her bowling skills.

At 12:30, we say our goodbyes, hugs all around (HEY! Kenny forgot to hug PHReD!), and boy are we glad we did this! Although we aren't speaking to PHReD now............

You know what one of the most interesting things was? (well, besides the fact that Romie would do cartwheels after a strike)
Was that I didn't notice the age difference at all (except for when Pip was talking about when they first discovered electricity ).

I dunno, I thought that was pretty cool, I'd hang out with you guys anytime
