Now I just have to know what they expect from people when every single job wants you to have experience.... My question is if every single darn company in this city demands experienced workers only , how in gods creation am I going to get a job if they dont give me a job so I can get experienced.... OHHHH I had one that called today and said sorry but you dont have enough experience, was nice of them huh , then says but we will keep your application cause your the next one with more experience....Thats crazy....Now if they call I dont even think I want the stinking job no more... I am so tired of job hunting , I think I could scream. Maybe I will just start lieing on my applications like a bunch of people I know who have done it and have great jobs, making good money. I would get caught though I know I would.... And to think I was having a good day, I would of just rather them not call at all then to tell me that . Now my days ruined Oh well sorry for rambling on making no sense at all ..Just had to vent a bit ..

You will find the greatest job. I know. Experience = confusion. If you have not enough you don't get in the door. If you have TOO much you don't get in the door. When I worked I left a lot of information out on the application and during the interview... was way overqualified. I found that got me hired. In general, and not specific: employers want a little bit of experience from you, but not too much. A little means they can train you the way they want. Too much means you will probably do things YOUR way and not be trainable. It's a fine gray line. Hints - if you can just get an interview, find out all you can about the job and the company. Ask questions of the interviewer and act knowledgeable about the company and what it does (or doen't do)... - Send a cover letter in with the resume - make it personable and up to date on you. - If you send in an app and don't hear anything in a week, send in a letter or call and talk to the hiring dept. Ask if your app was looked at. - Always follow up an interview - EVEN if you don't get hired with a thank you very much letter. Thanking them for the time they were able to spend with you and to please keep your app on file in case something opens up. Stroke the interviewer in the letter saying nice things. Even if you don't feel like it. Lots of times the interviewer is not the person you'll be working for. Don't despair. Fridays and Mondays are not good days to have apps land on a desk. Most good days to time the app landing is tues - thur. That li'l window means a lot more time for the app to be actually looked at. And look at it this way. The job you don't get is probably one you wouldn't have liked. Something you really want will come along. I promise!

What I find hurting me is 2and half years ago I quit my waitress job to stay home with my son in that time till now I have gotten my GED, taken my teacher aide test and passed , taking a test for CDL permit and applied for numerous jobs... Still nothing... When all I was , was a waitress I was doing fine, but no the minute I try to better my self I cant even get a waitress job. I am not a dead beat by no means I have been running my DH business by my self for 5yrs now. I do all the taxes , bookwork , scheduling, billing, all of it by my self, Bad thing is like I already been told that is self employment it is not verifiable.... I am not asking for much just for them to give me a chance I am a hard worker but my resume looks like crap because all I know of doing my DH business I taught my self and I been doing darn good but as that old stupid remark I keep getting "Its not Verifiable""" OHH I am sick of it......

I took a course for displaced workers--being a housewife wanting to get back into the work force. It helped a lot. I believe there are some online resources for helping you with a resume, too.
