| BETA: Master merchants list, opinions? Hey folks, Here's the beta of the master merchants list I'm working on. At this moment it pulls the data in real time, so it's a tad slower then it will be as I'm having it build HTML files instead once finished. Question is, how do you like it? Too much to choak down? Any opinions or thoughts on how to improve? I was thinking of breaking it up and listing no more then 250 merchants at a time.. Also was pondering having a [A - B - C - D ---] type link bar to view merchants that, thus, start with that letter.. Let me know.. [Only registered and activated users can see links. | The merchants database isn't set up at this moment to categorize the merchants themselves, just the deals.. However this is a good idea, I'll look into the ability to do this as well as possibly having descriptions for the merchants which can be displayed. |

| With them listed that way there is a lot of searching to find what I want...I would think that alphabetical would be MUCH easier...

| What ever it takes to make sure it's a used feature...  I'm not a fan of doing a pile of work on something that never gets used..  hehe.. I'm not sure if I'll get it done before I move, as there's only some odd 7 days left and I still have more packing/prep to do, but if not, I'll be working on it first thing as I get back online.. |

| yes i prefer alphabetical too. or at least a function where you get to choose between most popular and alphabetical. also, are all those links with DOD's affiliate links or just popular deals? What is the ranking based on? page views? click throughs?

| I like it too, but would definitely vote for alphabetical. Now....a very longshot idea, but, well, here goes....... IF there is any way possible for DoD to have a little popup window (appearing when you click through to a merchant's site) that lists the current coupon codes or discounts for that site I would absolutely, beyond-a-shadow of a doubt, use this feature regularly. I know this requires extra work -- specifically the maintenance of a coupon code database of some sort -- but having the codes right there at my fingertips would be enormously helpful and would probably increase the number of people that shop through your links. Just a thought..... |

| not bad. out of curiosity, what constitutes a deal? just wondering because some of the stuff listed under deals doesn't seem like a deal at all.

| how is the top 100 list determined? some of those near the top never have any good deals or i've never even heard of.

| Ranking is done via click through of the current deals within DOD for that merchant.. Thus, if Amazon has 5 deals, each deal gets 10 clicks, that's how ranking is done.. Once a deal expires out of DOD, the merchants loose those clicks to that deal for it's total rank, thus keeping the ranking fresh instead of having 500 clicks listed for someone who may not even have a deal at current. |
