Angry ATTENTION all patriotic DODers! Pledge of Allegiance BANNED!

I am absolutely horrified by this.

The school board of Madison, Wisconsin has BANNED the Pledge of Allegiance in schools. Their objection is to the phrase "one nation under God". Isn't it strange that they haven't objected to receiving or spending US currency on which "In God We Trust" is printed...

The full story is in the Wisconsin State Journal:

Why can't they just leave things alone? We as a Country have enough to deal with,,,than that stuff. Maybe it is important to them...but if they don't want there children do that then let them stand there. But let those who want to do it ......DO IT. Yes, it's there right but banning it isn't right either.

Actually.... someone has been trying to get "In God We Trust" off the currency for years. I forgot this person's name, but I think it's a female. I have one thing to say (or rather do) to them:
What's the big whoopie over it?? Sheesh.. they don't like it, phooey on them.
I LOVE the county I live in right now. I'd swear 90% of the teachers at the Elementary school are Christian, the lady that sits in the hallway to sign everybody in is reading a Devotional Book every morning and not a soul has complained about her. Another teacher has a license plate holder that says "Jesus - Don't leave earth without him." and everyone knows it's her car. And.. I love this one.. our County Stickers for our cars/trucks says "Under God, the People Rule". Cool...

When I say the pledge I leave out the line "under god".....other people can say it but I leave it out. And I often wondered about why "In God We Trust" has to be printed on all our money, I would think it would have been removed from that long ago!!!

freebieseeker63 - since it appears you didn't go to school here in the states, I'm going to give you a small history lesson

Our country was founded upon Godly principles - that is why God is involved in every element of our day - from the money we use, to the anthems we speak, to the laws we abide by.

If we decide to get rid of things like this, that remind us of where we have come from, in hopes of not offending ppl, it can only signal the end of America as a country (I have historical proof and will break it out if necessary )

Well, funny thing, in 12 years of public school and 2 years of college not ONCE was GOD mentioned anywhere in any history class or anywhere in school....we did study a lot of evolution, which to religious fanatics is a bad word!!!

I can not believe what I am hearing!

Europeans fled & came 2 America so that they could have religious freedom, among other things...

Freebieseeker63~we said the Pledge of Allegiance every morning be4 school began-not leaving out "God".We sang the Star Spangled Banner every week in music class. We had Christmas parties-JW chose not 2 participate, they had that right.

Did you study anything at all about the Pilgrims,Colonists ,Salem Witchtrials , Puritans? If so,how did you never hear God mentioned in school?

If we are not able 2 express our religious beliefs in our own country~then why in the H**L is everyone else who immigrates to this country allowed that right?

DON'T GET ME STARTED!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's sad.............our country's founders wanted freedom of religion, but some have now turned it into freedom from religion.

This is sad we should be pulling closer together not fighting with each other.
The kids need to be proud of our country so they can stand up for it. If they cannot show thier pride in the flag. What is the use?
Some people have noodles for brains.

Yes, this country was founded on Godly principals. Our forefathers used his word to guide them in the founding of America. If it was good enough for them, it is good enough for us. Maybe, just maybe, that could be the reason america is known as the strongest and the greatest. I know it is, but for all you doubters, just ask yourself maybe? But it seems the farther our country allows itself to be pulled away from him the more trouble we have.

And what about all these "rights" in schools and public places? What about the "believers rights"? Are they not important? I feel we need to stand up to a few things and not let them take away everything from us. I know there are people who do not believe in God and that is thier right to do so, but it is also our right to believe. So why mess with the things our country was founded on? How many people screamed "Oh God" on September 11?

It is my opinion, notice OPINION, that anyone who doesn't like America's pledges, creeds, monetary system or anything else put forth by our founding fathers, then they should Feel Free..........FREE TO LEAVE!!

It was probably Madelyn O'Hare, the atheist that was trying to get just about everything that had to do with God banned.

What a sad, sad thing to happen. If my child attended that school district, I would pull them out and move to another state!!

BTW........IBTL!!!

I agree!! Hopefully the person trying to get "In God we Trust" taken off our money will not be successful, that would be a very sad day in America.

In my letter to them I mentioned that the ones who voted in favor of the ban should immediately forfeit anything "offensive" to them that includes such a "religious oath", including their US currency. I guess we'll see how strongly they feel about if they continue to use US money.

A LOT of people have complained about the Pledge being banned. I think (hope) this will be lifted, probably in less than a week. I don't think they can legally stop the children from saying it on their own anyway. It just isn't right that the school board is against it, especially at a time when we should all be united.
