Well, I was wrong... it didn't even take a week.

Vote by School Board against pledge angers residents

The board will reconsider its decision at a special meeting next week, said Board President Calvin Williams. In the interim, schools will again have the option of using the pledge or national anthem daily.

Yes, this country was founded on Godly principals. Our forefathers used his word to guide them in the founding of America. If it was good enough for them, it is good enough for us. And what about all these "rights" in schools and public places? What about the "believers rights"? Are they not important? I feel we need to stand up to a few things and not let them take away everything from us. I know there are people who do not believe in God and that is thier right to do so, but it is also our right to believe. So why mess with the things our country was founded on? How many people screamed "Oh God" on September 11?

It is my opinion, notice OPINION, that anyone who doesn't like America's pledges, creeds, monetary system or anything else put forth by our founding fathers, then they should Feel Free..........FREE TO LEAVE!!

Hi,
I read your post about The Pledge of Allegiance. It got me going to I decided to write a note to the Governor, Scott McCallum. Within 8 hours I received this reply.
Dear Friend:

Thank you for your recent letter regarding the decision by the Madison Metropolitan School District School Board. I appreciate the time you took to contact my office.

I supported and signed into law the legislation requiring schools to recite the Pledge of Allegiance or sing the national anthem. I am disheartened by the decision and trust the Madison School Board will reconsider and revisit the resolution at their October 15, 2001 meeting.

Most Wisconsinites are looking for ways to enhance our armed forces and support our country; some people are looking for ways to diminish our belief in God and country. It is disheartening, but in a free country you have patriots and you also have the freedom for a few oddballs to place politics above patriotism.

Please join U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige and myself in a nationwide effort to recognize our troops and nation. Secretary Paige has asked all schools across the nation to join in the Pledge of Allegiance at 1 p.m. this Friday, October 12.

I love Wisconsin, and I know that in each of us there is a spirit that will not be crushed by the cowardly acts of terrorists. It is this spirit that makes America, and Wisconsin, great. I know this spirit is strong, and I am looking forward to hear Wisconsin's resounding voices, in both our schools and in our places of work, as we lift our voices to recite the Pledge of Allegiance with our President and nation.
