Thumbs up Petco donations to help the animals involved

Like me, you guys have probably already donated to the Red Cross, Firefighters families etc, but just wanted to share this. I donated yesterday through Petco. Pete & I are both big animal lovers, and would probably be first in line to adopt one of the orphaned cats & birds (there are over 2000 pets left "parentless" by the tragedy) if we didn't live on the other side of the country, so I figured a donation was the next best thing. You can donate $5 to $500 and it all goes to help both the homeless animals and for supplies for the rescue dogs as well.

Help Petco.com and the Petco Foundation Care for Homeless Pets and Rescue Animals

Petco.com and the Petco Foundation join every American in being profoundly affected by the recent events in New York, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania areas. We've also seen how people nationwide have come together as a result, working to make a positive change out of the chaos.

While people are lining up to donate blood and give their time towards relief efforts, we must also remember the thousands of companion animals that are now homeless because their owners are now gone.

So far, Petco has donated bandages, booties, eye wipes, pet carriers and many bags of dog food to the rescue effort's K-9 divisions. We're also joining with many local animal welfare organizations in working to find new homes for the many newly homeless animals.

Our customers have asked how they can also help, and we've responded by giving animal lovers nationwide a way to contribute.

Funds raised will help the Petco Foundation provide food, kennels and supplies to support animal rescue groups in the affected areas. Your donation will also help equip, feed and care for the many rescue animals that have already contributed so much to the relief effort.

Every amount of aid helps. Make a donation today, using your credit card below.

You can also visit any of Petco's more than 540 stores nationwide to contribute any amount.

Thank you for joining Petco.com and the Petco Foundation to help pets!

I think this is a wonderful idea! People are being taken care of, but I hadn't even thought about animals. Guess I was just thinking about the business aspect of this tragedy. Thanks for letting me know about this.
