Gen. Singlaub: Prepare for Biological, Chemical Attacks NewsMax.com Thursday, September 13, 2001 Gen. Jack Singlaub, the former U.S. supreme commander of all U.S. forces in Korea, told NewsMax that additional, more significant attacks against the U.S. could take place in the next several weeks. He warned that an escalation of terror – which might follow such an elaborate scheme as we have already seen unfold – might include the use of chemical or biological weapons of mass destruction. General Singlaub said that he shared the views of NewsMax national security consultant, Col. Stanislav Lunev, who has also issued a similar warning. "This is my view,” he said, "There is a possibility of a biological or chemical attack.” The view that additional attacks are likely is shared by the U.S. government. Fox News reported last evening that "lawmakers were told in classified briefings that additional attacks are 'possible if not probable' and they should not assume a false sense of security. This message has been conveyed with a very deliberate and serious level of magnitude." "This is really war,” Gen. Singlaub told NewsMax.com. Singlaub himself witnessed the fireball explosion at the Pentagon, he lives just a quarter-mile from the military complex. Last edited by sweetcindy; 09-13-2001 at 11:00 PM. |

I fear this all too much - that within the next few weeks or months, there will be biological/chemical warfare attacks. These attacks are made silently, so you basically don't realize you are breathing in something that is killing you. I am TRULY scared to death. I feel like I'm slipping back into a deep depression. Did you know that anyone at all can buy these biological hazards needed to make these weapons? Anyone can call up right now and order anthrax spores, so long as they have a valid credit card to charge it on. It is ridiculous, and I've been saying this for years. My husband always has his reasonings for why it would never happen, but just think about this. All of the attention right now is on airports and air travel. What about our hospitals, colleges, grade schools and malls? Do they have intense security? NO. Anyone, and I mean ANYONE can walk into a mall, deposit a powdered biological weapon into the air sysytem and Wham! You are going to have several dead people. They won't know it until the symptoms hit and it will be too late. They will choose something deadly that there is no cure for. Something that will kill thousands and make them suffer a horrible, painful death. I am not trying to scare anyone, but I really think this entire country, every street, every building, needs military protection. I think everyone needs to be under scrutiny right now. I am terrified that many thousands more may be killed before Christmas. I am trying to spend as much time with my kids as I can, just in case the next attack is on us. I know many people think I am being overly terrified, but I feel I am just being realistic. There ARE terrorists still all over this country, waiting for their next attack. Who can understand what is going on in their heads? No one knows the next target or how they will attack. And the scariest part is that these people are willing to die, too. So what is to stop them from deploying a biological weapon or suitcase bomb? They don't care if they die and who else they kill. This country is in trouble, and we need to take action SWIFTLY. If these people are struggling just to survive, then they will have no time for more attacks on us. Sorry to ramble on, but I just needed to get this out.

I share the same fear...the biological weapons are hideous. I spent the last few days in fear...I don't want it to rule my life. I am still going to smile, I am going to focus on what we have that is still good. Yes, I am scared but I am going to pretend I am not, at least until I can convince myself that all is well. They want us to live in fear, they want us to sleep with one eye open. We can't let them get the best of us. These threats have always been here, we are just more aware of them now. More aware of our own mortality. If I must have any fear at all...I pray God turns it into an appreciation of each breath, a recognition of the important things. I am going to use the fear, it won't use me any longer. |

I imagine that that terrorists have had chemical and biological weapons at their disposal for some time. IMHO, it really sucks for Gen. Singlaub to say something like that publicly when Americans are already shaken and insecure. If Americans start entertaining all the possibilities of how they can be annihilated, the whole nation will go into a panic. I think we've got to trust that our government is aware of the possible dangers and is working to protect us.

This whole thing is so unbelievably scarey! I know I never imagined the US would ever go through what the other nations have been dealing with, but goodness, was I ever wrong. I remember seeing the little Israeli children on TV with their little gas masks on their way to school.......and my heart went out to them! Never did it even cross my mind that I may be sending my son off with one soon!

Yes, this is VERY scary - and also very real. This is why the war on terrorism is so important. What happened this week will escalate unless we take steps to stop it. Support US efforts in the war on terrorism!!!
