Shocked I'M GOING BACK TO SCHOOL!!!!

I just had to tell everyone because i am so excited and nervous at the same time....i have decided (finally) to go back to school....i go see admissions tomorrow at Thomas Nelson to see what i can do about getting in and what i need and take a test.....i'm going to study to be a paralegal....my dream is to eventually go to law school...what i plan on doing is going and becoming a paralegal and then while i'm working as a paralegal, i'm gonna go to law school at night (which i didn't even know you could do woohooo ok so i won't be a Harvard educated lawyer but i want to try and get into the college of william and mary which is a REALLY good school here in va and hopefully that will be good enough lol) so i'll have experience at that and go to school at the same time...luckily with chris being in the navy they will help pay for it and i can finally finally do it....i figure i'm 25 years old not too old not too young and i'm serious about it so i'll be able to bear down and study and really do it, the kids are only 3 and 5 so they are still young but starting school etc so by the time they are in school full-time i'll be educated and ready to go.....oh i know i'm not gonna sleep tonight, i'm so nervous but i really wanna do this and hopefully i'll get in and do well and oh my gosh i can't believe i'm finally gonna do it......this is my second chance, this is what i've been waiting for...chris is on shore duty now so this is my perfect opportunity, he's gonna be home everyday after work and i can go at night and oh i'm so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he's so proud of me, he's been on me ever since gavin was born to go back to school but i dragged my feet and didn't think i could do it but now, now i think i really can....i really think i could.....oh man any prayers and good thoughts my way would be truly appreciated right now......i'm so excited!!!!!!! i'll keep everyone updated, hopefully i can sleep tonight so i'll be ok tomorrow and not falling all over myself LOL! ok just wanted to share the good news i'll stop rambling now

Oh Steph...this is wonderful babe! I took the admissions test for a local Tech College a couple of years ago and I really thought I was going to pee my pants..LOL! I actually did very well, surprised the heck out of me. LOL! LMBO! You go girl and so much luck to ya! I have to agree w/ Sushi...please budget your time wisely. You're doing this for yourself I realize that, but don't forget those few hours of sleep that are much needed, especially for a star pupil as I'm sure you're going to be!! Woo-hoo..we're all pulling for ya! I have so much respect for you and those who bite the bullet and just go for it!

My mom went back to school after my dad died. She was 46 then and held down a full time job too. She graduated summa cum laude in 1991, and has been teaching ever since.

I found out in late 97 that I was eligible for VA Vocational Rehabilitation, and started back to college in Jan 98. I was 37 then, and had two kids........and I am set to graduate in May 2003......

It can be done !!

Good Luck and congratulations. I went back at 43 (needed 60 credits for my bachelors). I worked full time, had 2 kids at home and all the take-out places knew who I was. I graduated #3 in a class of 205 in 1999. Some people do college in 4 years, I took the 28 year plan. When I graduated, I was so proud - it was one of the most memorable moments of my life. Someday you too will experience that same feeling. It's hard sometimes, but don't give up.

Big grin I HAVE HAD A BUSY BUSY BUSY 2 DAYS!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
I am now enrolled in Thomas Nelson Community College for the Legal Assistant Certificate program!!!!!!!
that's right i am officially a college student!!!!!!!!
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lol sorry it took so long to update i have been running around like a crazy person for the past 2 days so when i finally get home and sit down i fall asleep LOL

i did well on the placement test, i scored a 81 in reading, 99 in writing, and ok so i'm a bit embarrassed a 17 in math (yikes) which i know is bad but luckily i don't have to take any math for this particular course...i decided to go ahead and do the certificate for legal assistant (which is the new fancy name for paralegal lol) and start working as soon as i can and see how i like it and then try for my liberal arts degree (which is what i need to go pre-law) or just try to go ahead and apply for pre-law when i can....i'm gonna have to take ALOT of math then though lol but this is pretty much what i wanted to do (paralegal) when i started out so i've gotten this far, we'll see how the rest goes

i'm so excited!! right now i'm only taking college comp.1 and 2 and introduction to law and the legal assistant but that's because i didn't realize that i was almost at the cut off for registering for fall classes! so in the winter/spring i'll be taking lots but right now, everything besides that was pretty full LOL....i can't wait to get started!!! woohoooooooooo!!!!!
thanks for all the support yall, it is just great to know there are so many ppl pulling for you....i guess you never really do have to give up your dreams sometimes it just takes a little time
ok just wanted to let yall know, i'm rambling again lol thank you I'M SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations Steph! The time will go by faster than you can imagine & it's probably best to start off with a smaller class load so you can become accustomed to the work.

Don't be too worried about the math & don't forget to inquire about tutoring. Many community colleges have special programs for women returning to school & offer extra things like free tutoring and scholarship packages.

Good luck & keep us updated

Big grin thanks yall!!

i think orientation is the 20th of this month, they are supposed to call and set up the appointment for orientation and classes start shortly, i thought i had read the 18th of this month but i don't think that's right...i was trying to absorb everything all at once so now i'm all fuddled, gonna call later to find out exactly what LOL....right now i'm filling out these financial aid forms and chris is trying to find out what exactly the navy can do for me so he gets to fill out a bunch of forms too LOL.....MAN i still can't believe i'm really gonna do it! kat, oh yeah they have all kinds of tutorial classes etc., i'm thinking about next semester maybe taking a basic math or something just to get back into it...in my daily life all i've really had to use was "what is 2+2 dummy?" LOL and i couldn't get past Geometry in high school (yep that's right failed it for 3 years in a row that's how dumb i am in math LOL) so hopefully i can do better now that i can really bear down and i'm not sidetracked by boys etc LOL
ok gotta go call and finish up this stuff with the school and find out exactly what i need and when i need to be there etc...you'd think i'd have found all this out yesterday but it's so overwhelming...go here sign this, fill out this, pay this, go here by 3 now fillout this etc...my head was spinning by the time i got home, all i knew was i was in and registered and awaiting orientation LOL!
thanks again everyone, i am so happy
